    Lumintop GT Nano mini-review

I just got mine today and have been trying it out in a variety of places. I agree with everything you said. It’s really a fun little light with great throw for its size. Even my wife, who usually rolls her eyes at my new lights, thought it was impressive.

Orbtronic Sub-Zero 18650 Protected Li-ion rechargeable battery cell

Anyone know about this battery? I searched without finding any info. Does it offer an advantage in very cold weather or is it just marketing talk? I’m considering it for a light I keep on a tractor which can be exposed to occasional but extended sub zero temps in the winter. I’ve read some of...

    ---Fall Flashlight Season---

It used to crack me up that people referred to a “flashlight season” but now I totally get it and it makes perfect sense. I love Fall too and who doesn’t like goofing around with lights.

    Is this a Surefire tailcap?

I think I'm just misunderstanding you (you're just referring to the patent?) but plenty of the early Surefire tailcaps did not have lockout capability.

Help with defective clicky SF TC

When the tailcap becomes ultra-sensitive it's usually because the metal "prongs" or "fingers" are making contact with the plunger too soon. I've had caps that behave exactly as you describe. Using something suitable (a paperclip will work), bend or pull the prongs away from where they make...

The *official* top ten flashlights that every flashaholic should own!

Every so often someone brings a thread back from the dead and it takes me a while (far too long) to realize I'm not really in the Twilight Zone. It's just an old thread, it's just an old thread, its just........ OK, I'm better now. My list: Surefire E2 or E2E Surefire M6 Surefire A2 Arc AAA...

New Surfire costs for LEO's too expensive?

Well I've been a cop for 20 years and if there's one thing I've learned it's that there *IS* no such thing as "cops." We're all different with our own priorities, prejudices, bias, and experiences. What works for me may not for the other guy or gal. One of my pet peeves is when someone steps...

The best and worst of my A2

It's interesting to hear everyone's perspective on what makes a useful light. The A2/white is a great trail light for me. The LED is perfect once my eyes adapt to the conditions. The incandescent spot is rarely used but perfect for lighting that noise in the trees or the condition of the trail...

    Flashaholic Husband to the Rescue

If it had been my wife I would have taken four or MORE lights but it would have taken me so long to decide which ones to take that by the time I got to her she would have already been rescued by some hot Latino stud and would be gone!

Weapon light suggestions for a Glock 22

Thanks for the report. Very interesting results. I REALLY wish my gun would run with a light but oh well. As for Patriot's info, that was helpful too. I don't think I'll mess with the recoil springs though since the gun runs fine otherwise and has many thousands of rounds through it. I've had...

Optics HQ is testing an E series Q5 head!

If someone wants black and really cares about matching the finish Surefire did make some black Type ll anodized E2 lights a while back. I'd rather have a slightly mis-matched HA black instead of what they're proposing but it's really no biggie either way.

Optics HQ is testing an E series Q5 head!

Aren't there some exceptions to that rule? I remember asking my English Teacher once who explained it to me and pointed out the exceptions (which I've long since forgotten:o). Also shouldn't "Led" be LED or L.E.D? Lastly I think HAlll is redundant. It's either hard anodized or Type lll. PS I...

what battery is in your Arc-AAA right now?

Alkaline in the one I have around my neck chain. I use the one around my neck enough to regularly change the battery and hopefully avoid leaks. I had a duracell leak in a rarely used AAA-P. I put lithiums in the ones I don't use much so they're less likely to leak. I don't like using lithiums...

Weapon light suggestions for a Glock 22

At that time we used Speer 180grn Gold Dots. When we changed to the Federal 180grn HST I tried the 22/x200 combo again without success. I've used aluminum Blazer and Remington UMC too and couldn't get reliable function. Without a light attached the 22 runs 100%. I look forward to hearing your...

LED or Incand for Damaged Automobile Inspection

Re: LED or Incand for Body Inspection I'd choose a Surefire L4 for close up work but I'm partial to Surefire. The L2 is a good option with it's two levels though it is bigger. Realistically if she's not into lights most any $10 hardware store LED light will do. I prefer incandescents in...
