Welcome to CPF Henry. I find it fascinating and expensive to follow the evolution led flashlights. Good luck. Now.., I like the idea of a variable strobe in your flashlight. Years ago at Union Carbide we spent $1000 on a fancy strobe so we could find out if the RPM of some motors was wandering...
Re: UPDATE coin LED light on Dog collar-WORKS GREA
For about a year now my 2 dogs have been running at night with Petzel type head lights. They wear them like a collar with the light shinning forward. I can see where they are and they can see where they are going. It's a pretty funny sight my...
You could modify the D mags with an everled;

Also, just like the opalec, these drop into a mag aa;

Not to thread hijack, but I found a good host for the Everled at the 99 cent store. Four side by side AA's in a black rubberized "Garrity" type flashlight, and the polarity is right. I like the 'stuby' better than the 4c Mag I took the Everled from. Smoother beam.
Another vote for the TL-2. For the dog, buy a cheap led headlight and put it on the dog like a collar but facing forward under his neck. The light will be at a perfect angle for him to see where he's going. You will also know where he's at. My dogs highly recommend this.
Great review, thanks. They claim 4 hour run time on the Nuwai site

I'm speculating that Nuwai waits for companies to rebrand and release these lights as their own. Brookstone and Streamlight are the only companies that have released some of the Nuwai...
Interesting observation Brightnorm. How does a 5 watt driven at 9v last 10k hours while one driven at 6v last 1000 hours? I have the lights but I don't think I'll run the test. What resister are they using in the TL-3?
Thanx Chris. I sent them an email asking about the flashlights in the background of this page;

OptiLED has some interesting leds. 4 degree spot. 6 to 24v.

Can the circuits in these lights run on dc?
That bayonet base has possibilities.
They are different lights. The TL-2 is worth $55 IMHO. The Brookstone light is a rebranded Nuwai product,

that I wouldn't pay more than $30 for. I'm not saying it's a bad light, I don't think it's a $50 light.
