    Why 21700 instead of 26650

21700 seems to be the new standard in Li-Ion batteries. Why 21700 instead of 26650, which have considerably more volume and therefore greater capacity?

    TINI 2 by Nitecore

Re: TINI2 by Nitecore I love this light. The 1 lumen mode, considerably brighter than the 1 lumen mode on my Olight S2 Baton, is perfect for close-up illumination. The display is great for mode, time remaining, lock and unlock status. Uses the latest USB C connector for charging. Gate clip...

Parasitic Drain in D Cell Maglite LED Flashlights

I have a couple of Maglite D cell LED flashlights that show signs of parasitic drain. Instead of D cells, I use the latest generation (10 year) Eneloop AA batteries with 3xAA -> D cell adapters. After about 9 months in storage, the batteries in the 2xD cell light were down to about 60%. The...

Stephenk, you have raised the bar for flashlight reviews. Well done.

Olight S2 Baton - Best UI for non-flashaholic

I recently gave into temptation and purchased an Olight S2 Baton. Yes, I already have dozens of flashlights, and yes, it is yesterday's news. But it looked so compact, and the deep-carry clip looked pretty nice, and the 1/2 lumen, 2 month runtime was just too much to resist. I find that I...

    Test/Review of built-in chargers.

Increasing numbers of flashlights now have built-in charging circuitry, especially for Li-Ion cells. Has anyone done an analysis/review of these chargers? It would be interesting to know how they compare to dedicated chargers. Are they close enough to chargers that HKJ rates as "good", or are...

My Fenix PD35 hit the floor and died. What to do?

The Firefly mode alone makes me want to get this light.

Sold/Expired Odd Mods Adapters, 3AA-21AA, M6 rechargeable solutions, Dummy cells, Customs!

I have one OddMods 6xAA to 2D Parallel (which is probably what you want for a MagLite) to sell. It is the older style that does not cradle each battery individually, but it functions very well. Say, $15. Let me know if you are interested.

    Question re: 2XAA LED Flashlights

I know you specifically said 2xAA, but consider the Fenix E41 or LD41. Both 4xAA, with different form factors. You'll get your 300 lumens and then some. Let us know what you decide.

Looking for ideas for a floody 18650 light....

Re: Thanks to everyone !!!! Let us know what you decide and perhaps your reasons as well. FWIW, I also like a light with plenty of flood, suitable for walking a path at night. The Fenix PD35 and PD40 both have decent spill, but the PD40 seems to have a less well-defined hotspot (i.e. a...

    Fenix UC35 vs PD35

I have a PD35 and I love it. I don't see how the advantage of a built-in recharger justifies an extra $60. $29 for a PD35 is unbeatable. Go for it.

    *New* Fenix LD11

This light has a longer runtime with Ni-MH batteries than with a 14500; more than twice as long in the 50 lumen mode. That surprises me. The only advantage of a 14500 is more lumens in burst mode.
