    Intro and the RV nightmare

This thread is nearly a month old, but this is exactly what I did on my RV in 2014. I bought the Hella 90mm Bixenon modules and fabricated mounts for them. The total cost was around $1,500. The price on the modules has gone up since then I believe. Headlight performance is great.

2011 Grand Caravan Express Headlight improvement

I have a 2012 Grand Caravan (same headlights as 2011) and I think the headlights are actually fairly decent. I have not replaced the bulbs at 64,000 miles yet. Way better than the older Caravans. I drove my parent's 2000 Caravan about a year ago and I might as well not even had headlights. I...

NHTSA proposes amber turn signals, better low beams, auto beam switching

I have more often noticed amber turn signals that are dim or hard to see, but I suspect the problem also happens with red turn signals too and I just don't notice it. I have a pretty long commute and it has been dark during my commute for the past few months so everyone has their tail lights on...

    Improving back-up illumination

Backup cameras will not be required on all cars until 2018 model year. It was 2014 originally, but got extended to 2018

NHTSA proposes amber turn signals, better low beams, auto beam switching

You won't buy a car simply because it doesn't have amber turn signals? Do you think the safety benefit to you as a driver is really that great? (I do have fairly bright LED amber turn signals on my motorhome, but 95% of the time I am towing a large trailer so the lights on the motorhome are...

Are Bargman LED lights just junk?

There are two types of long term warranties. One is long because the item is well made and rarely ever breaks. The other is long because you paid too much up front to have to constantly replace a poorly made item. Obviously I prefer long warranties on well made items where I never need the...

Are Bargman LED lights just junk?

Since I'm the OP I'll add further clarification to my situation. I did not originally have Bargman lights of any variety. I covered the original lights and cut holes for Bargman lights into the back of my vehicle. The Bargman lights I bought are the sealed LED type. I could buy the Bargman...

Are Bargman LED lights just junk?

In my particular case the sockets in my rear lights were totally corroded and not fixable. I had tried pretty much everything to try to clean them up. Every time I drove the vehicle at least one of the six rear light bulbs would quit working. My choices were to replace all six of the sockets...

Are Bargman LED lights just junk?

Personally, I would never consider LED light bulbs to go into sockets. No real advantage in my book. I went to the sealed LED light assemblies to get away from problems with corroded sockets and such. It would not be that hard for me to replace the Bargman LED lights with 6" oval LED lights...

Are Bargman LED lights just junk?

I actually looked at a lot of LED light manufacturers before choosing Bargman. I did not have Bargman lights to start with. In hindsight what I should have done is just installed standard 6" oval lights so I am not stuck with one manufacturer.

Are Bargman LED lights just junk?

I have a converted bus that gets driven at most 5,000 miles a year. I converted the rear lighting to Bargman LED lights in 2009. Since that time I have replaced one of the brake/tail lights as it stopped working in brake mode. I currently have a center brake light with about 1/2 of the LEDs...

Do you use your headlights in daytime?

I only turn on my headlights when it is dark or when I need to turn on my wipers. I do not have DRLs. A couple of times when it was raining I noticed I accidentally only turned on the parking lights and not the headlights. I have never purposely used the parking lights except to provide power...

Emergency vehicles exempt from automotive lighting regs?

LED brake lights can be really bright even if they are intended as brake lights. I have Bargman LED brake lights on my converted bus and they are are blindingly bright. The bus is almost always towing a large trailer so vehicles rarely see the bus brake lights.

Koito and Toyota fans, take note!

Hell has had a Bi-LED module for some time. It is quite a bit more expensive than the Hella Bi-Xenon module. It was recommended to me to use the Bi-Xenon instead of the Bi-LED.

New Chrysler 300 - are the high beams defective?

My Hella Bi-Xenon headlights are similar with little change from low beam to high beam. The shutter is certainly opening, but I don't get the kind of dramatic change in light like you expect from most vehicles.
