    Discharging Li-ion batteries

Thank you guys. The light and battery both had low voltage protection, and I took it out while light was still coming out. I may be looking into a new charger with a discharge function, so I appreciate the pointers.

Update: Bottle is now in freezer. Will check on it in an hour or so.

    Discharging Li-ion batteries

The best solution I could come up with in my dorm... This is safe, right? :D

    Holster/belt clip for thrower

I may be getting ahead of myself, but I imagine that stainless steel would be the way to go for this. Any ideas on gauges? I have some metalworking experience, so I would feel better about working with sheet metal than most other appropriate materials for this project. At this moment in time...

    Holster/belt clip for thrower

The metal part being something like this? Am I following? I just whipped this up in CAD software.

    Holster/belt clip for thrower

I have an Olight M3X Triton. Toilet-plunger 2x18650 kind of light. I'm not a huge fan of the included holster; I can't warm up to head-up. So, I generally carry it head down, clipped in my left cargo pocket. This, unfortunately, is not very secure. I would love to find a better way to carry...

    Low temperature effect on flashlights

Low voltage cutoff is at 2.75V, I think. Is there also a high current limit on the protection circuit? This flickering and dying effect was generally more notable on higher settings, and was most prevalent when clicking the switch or even just applying sideways pressure on the head. So far I've...

    Low temperature effect on flashlights

I've noticed something over the course of this winter. When I use my flashlights indoors, at a nice room temp, everything is normal. However, when I'm outside for some period of time at temperatures around freezing, I start to get flickering when operating tail switches, and even when applying...

    New floodier EDC

Thanks! Looking into both, running some CBA. I appreciate your help!

    New floodier EDC

I have an extra 18650 without a flashlight, and not really any floody lights. I'm also willing to consider a switch to RCR123. (I would like a smaller light). AA is ok too. I'm a college student (mechanical engineering), so I'm not rolling in cash. My budget limit is $50. I may be using this...

    Lux/Candela/Meters/Lumen Calculations

As TEEJ (i believe) mentioned earlier, human eyes are a poor judge of brightness. Would a side-by-side comparison be enough to tell if one of these lights is not putting out as much light as it should be?

    Lux/Candela/Meters/Lumen Calculations

Ok, would reflectors removed + identical tubes around LEDs be a better comparison? And then hold them an equal distance from the wall?

    Lux/Candela/Meters/Lumen Calculations

Thanks for the help so far. I can get my hands on a DMM at some point being an engineering student. CD/d^2=Lux is exactly what I need. Provided that the CD listed on the packaging are calculated based on the listed lumens. I will do CD1/d1^2 = lux = CD2/d2^2, and determine a pair of distances to...
