    Sandwich recipe?

Very true, or as StarHalo pointed out I could just buy a LED minimag. The point of this was to have some fun in a DIY project but, again, not much point using emitters (and techniques) from 8 or 9 years ago. Progress is a good thing. I'll just have to find a different project. :D

    Sandwich recipe?

Well, thanks for the input everyone. I'm not going take on this project, it's just not worth the effort. :(

    Sandwich recipe?

No problems, just questions... Cobwebs for sure, I don't know the last time I built one of these things. My son (now in college) asked if we could make one for the mini-mag he keeps in his dorm room. So, that kicked off this whole thing and now I'm obsessing a little. If memory serves the...

    Sandwich recipe?

The original sandwich PCBs were 14mm in diameter. 10mm is too narrow for incan minimags. The big question then is whether the XPL HI has a common ground with its base and cathode since the PCB grounds to the minimag body. EDIT: I didn't see the MadMax anywhere on the Shoppe's site, I think...

    Sandwich recipe?

I've been out of the hobby since, well, since the Luxeon III was eclipsed by its competitors. These PCBs could be used with Luxeons and BB or MadMax converters to create minimag drop-in "sandwiches", hence the name of Dat2Zip's shop. What I don't know is whether any of the newer emitters...

    Sandwich recipe?

Str8stroke, Dat2Zip's store points us back here... Wolfy1776, the MadMax was a series of more efficient converters that Dat2Zip offered a while ago. I guess it has been 7 or 8 years at least since the idea of a MagLite AA drop-in module so perhaps this is all ancient history and nobody...

    Sandwich recipe?

Hi Everyone, Several years ago I put together a few sandwiches using the older madmax, etc converters and various Luxeon emitters. Apologies if I missed a FAQ or sticky, but is it still possible to make sandwiches and if so can they use the newer emitters? Thanks in advance!

Old Streamlight TL-3 - Carely H1499's still around?

Very fair price, I was attempting to be humorous. This was my first post here in almost 2.5 years and I'm excited to be back!

Old Streamlight TL-3 - Carely H1499's still around?

Not a bad idea fivemega. Looks like the bodies are $80 and bulbs are available (with the body) for $8. Any chance of a CPF old-timer discount? :-)

Old Streamlight TL-3 - Carely H1499's still around?

Hi Everyone, I have a TL-3 collecting dust in my drawer. If memory serves the H1499 could be dropped in along with a few 17500's for some decent gain. Are these bulbs still available? If not is there an equivalent bulb? Or maybe some other mod that I should consider?

    Wiz2 917 Specs?

Update: After a little searching it looks like the Wiz2 can handle 2.7-6.0 Vin. This means 2xR123 is out and 17650(70?) will be the way to go.

    Wiz2 917 Specs?

Hi everyone, I've got an older KL1 head that I rebuilt a while back (5 years ago - I'm getting old!!). It contains a U bin Lux3 (remember those?!) and a Wiz2 at 917ma. I'd like to pick up a 17650 to use in place of 2x123 but I've forgotten the specs, specifically min and max Vin. Anyone...

    LED Upgrades for 1AAA lights?

Definitely bi-pin. Turns out this is a discontinued product which is probably why it was so cheap at the dollar store. Here's a link to Grainger's page.

    LED Upgrades for 1AAA lights?

Maybe I'm too old-school (havn't been on CPF in 4 or 5 years) but the Fenix lights just don't do anything for me. Seems like there really isn't anything groundbreaking anymore (not like when the Luxeons came out) but only improvements in LED efficiency and lots more multi-mode buck circuits...

    LED Upgrades for 1AAA lights?

Are there decent Solitair drop-ins? I see one for a "tektite lf3" (or similar) but the reviews are mixed.
