What flashlight do you keep in your vehicle?

Zebralight for sure, which specific model depends a little bit on mood. Goes great with PB2S for charging and storing batteries.

Longest running on AA or AAA - LED light in low mode on the market in 2022 ?

This is a recurring topic I think; “which batteries could I still get during a disaster?” But it never made much sense to me, to be honest. I mean, say there’s a disaster, caused by a storm, flood, other natural disaster, war, or something else entirely. Going out to get those batteries, is...

    For Sale - Flashlight Zebralights

I’m interested in the SC52F, if shipping to Norway won’t break the bank.

best non rechargable battery for aa zebralight

Energizer Lithium, easy choice… … but for anyone reading this thread, thinking about non-rechargeable due to cost, take a look at IKEA rechargeable “NiMH2” / ready to use batteries. They have an awesome cost/performance.

    Thunderstorm prep

Aside from surge protectors... For every place I live in, I use fall for asking myself what I actually use mains electricity for. Some things are obvious, and applies to (virtually) everyone, like: - lights - information (‘net, radio) - communication (phones, radios for HAMs) - entertainment...

    Thunderstorm prep

It’s not. But that’s okay, since the plan was never to stop it in the first place. :-) There’s two ways to protect from lightning. The first is to isolate, but as you mention, if 2 miles of atmosphere can’t stop it, how could a little $15 plastic thing stop it? Well, it can’t. But it’s not...

    Xtar PB2 circuitry upgrades/changes?

You could always consider PB2S? It’s physically larger, but will also do 21700-cells, which is very nice to have, IMHO.

What are the most recommendable/trusted manufacturers/brands of flashlights?

I'm also EDCing the exact some light (Zebralight SC64c LE). For me, it's just about the perfect EDC light. The thought of an SC600-one was mostly to get a bit more ooomph if only having one light. You mentioned charging, which makes me want to mention that 18650s and similar are kind of a...

    Coronavirus

I’ve seen no indication of it being truly airborne, outside of aerosol. Even so, that still means you can probably sneeze it 4-5 meters, have it linger for half an hour, then land on something where it can live for days, maybe a week. I think it’s easy to underestimate this.

    Coronavirus

There was a bit of discussion about using coffee filters, filter diameter etc, and I just wanted to quickly comment... 0.3 micrometer is just about that hardest to filter. Corona virus is smaller than that, and actually easier to filter, which is good news. Put in practical terms, a filter size...

What are the most recommendable/trusted manufacturers/brands of flashlights?

Knowing what I know now, there’s no question about what I’d get for my first light, if I had to go back. I’d definitively get a Zebralight. An 18650 fueled one. They’re compact enough to EDC, good quality lights, and cover a very wide output range. You can light up a room, or you can dim them...

    noob question on "wasted" voltage

Good answers already, just offering a different take... Question is a 6V battery into a 3V LED, with only resistor to regulate. Now, the easiest way to look at this might be to switch from voltage to current. The LED might want 20mA of current, and the resistor slows things down until only...

Klarus Mi7 vs Tool 2.0 AA

Just want to quickly add... check runtimes. The Mi7 will get you above 500, but only with 14500-batteries, and only for 3 minutes before it steps back to 350 lumens, if which you’ll have less than an hour. That might be fine, just wanted to bring up that above 500 lumens, AA/14500-lights are...

Klarus Mi7 vs Tool 2.0 AA

Unless I’ve missed something, the D25A will only get you to about 200 lumens, which simplifies things. :-) I’m never more than half a minute away from a Zebra in my jacket or backpack, usually both, so my priorities were a bit different. It might push your budget, but speaking of Zebras, the...

Klarus Mi7 vs Tool 2.0 AA

I’ve owned and EDCed both the Mi7 and Tool AAA (note: triple A). My personal experience was that the Mi7 was reliable (for me), but that the Tool would accidentally activate, sometimes without me noticing until it came up flat, and failed me when I wanted to use it. That may or may not be...
