Love them for my purposes (no high drain needs). 5 bucks a pop. Haven't found any others with any noticeably greater capacity by my admittedly unscientific eye. I always buy protected. To each his own needs.

Ended up just boring out a piece of CPVC with a 3/4" Unibit. Works great. I would likely remove most of the middle of the tube for heat reasons (leaving two thin connecting strips between two rings) if I only had an heat issues with this application. I don't so I probably won't.

Depends on what you mean by "wet". I purchased two of these to use for my shorter runs -- I have no qualms with them in the rain, but wouldn't want be ducking through sumps in caves with them.
