Longest runtime for budget single AA or AAA led light on low setting to be used in tornado shelter

A single AAA might not be as efficient as a single AA, but if a headlamp and an emergency light both use the same battery type, your logistics and flexibility options are improved. That said, the Fenix E12 is one of the few single AA battery lights commonly available on the market. I ordered...

Longest runtime for budget single AA or AAA led light on low setting to be used in tornado shelter

I love the G22 - it's, in my humble opinion, the best light Coast offers. It's not without a few flaws, but it's freaking marvelous at the price. I ended up buying an armful and gifting them to co-workers. My only real quibble is that the "low" mode is basically useless. Drop it down to 5ish...

Power goes out and you are only allowed two flashlights ? what are what modes would you run each ?

If I'm not leaving the apartment: a headlamp and a long running, low output light. Fenix E01 or a Lumintop EDC01. I have enough long-running Malkoffs, and other lights, with enough CR123s or 18650s that I could be functional for a month without worrying. I'd be more concerned about...

    Emergency Lantern Recommendations

The Streamlight Siege is also a nice choice with D or AA options.

    Is the (flashlight) "save" dead?

Heh. The restaurant probably took it to an extreme then. One memorable afternoon, I finished my lunch at a Chinese buffet by the light of a Fenix E01 after the power went out. 🤣

    Sold/Expired Surefire E2L AA

It's an indication of just how addicted some of us are - I have one user, and another still in the package (I think), and I still took a peek at the eBay offerings. To be fair, $450 isn't too far above board for some of the prices I saw on eBay. I'm surprised there isn't a more commonly...

    Coast Lights...Thoughts?

For better and cheaper, what would you suggest for x2 AA flashlight, one or two modes?

Hi CRI or neutral white ?

That might be the key difference - I keep thinking in terms of near colors, like black on black, or dark gray on black.

    Is the (flashlight) "save" dead?

Huh. I'll have to try that with some reflective neon material.

    Is the (flashlight) "save" dead?

And nobody's heart stops (usually) if you drop the flashlight.

Hi CRI or neutral white ?

Interesting. I've always thought washing out colors made it *easier* to spot things because it enhanced the outline more. Your experience is the opposite. Hmm.

When was the last time you actually needed to use a flash light for 7 or more hours

I lost power for almost two weeks year before last, but even then I only really used a little Thrunight Ti3 (I think that's the model) on moonlight mode to navigate the apartment and use the kitchen or bathroom, as both spaces were inclosed with no ambient light. I had plenty of other lights...

    Coast Lights...Thoughts?

I have mixed opinions on Coast. They have a good selection of functional, entry level and working class lights. I carry a Coast G22 penlight in my pocket for work. Pros: single AAA, tail clicky with clip. Cool white beam. It *doesn't* use the Coast "inspection" beam pattern (which I...
