I finally got round to putting all my torches into my display case. Let me know if there are any items you'd like me to bring along specifically.

Hey, I'm up for some sort of camping in the next couple of months.

I'm not too surprised to be honest. That's the problem with a bolt mechanism; it's potentially more jarring to the refill than other mechanisms. It's also not helped by the fact that the Schmidt refill is a rollerball rather than a ballpoint and therefore has a more free flowing ink. The...

My O'pen finally turned up. It's perfectly functional, although the pocket clip feels too firm and I wonder if it would be better with just two output levels rather than four. A Schmidt 4876 refill fits with no issue, using the original spring. I was hoping that the cheap plastic tube gel...

It will depend on how much internal space the pen has close to the tip as to whether some of the more interesting refill conversions will be possible or not. The Schmidt Mini isn't a bad refill though and the Schmidt 4876 pressurised refill (basically a smaller Fisher PR space pen refill copy)...

Thanks a lot for the kind offer Kay, unfortunately I'd already purchased one.

Thanks, From your dimensions it sound exactly like the Schmidt Mini 8126. I would have expected something a little smaller, like the Lamy M22, having looked at some pictures, but if they could fit in a larger refill then great, more space for alternative refill hacks. I might just have to pick...

What refill does the pen light use?

So I had a go at making a Chuck Adapter Spindle for Jay R and thought I'd take some photos to document the process and explain some of the operations if anyone's interested. I started with some 22mm mild steel hex bar. Also shown is the mini chuck I will be adapting to fit into a power...

The only issue is that I kind of need the chuck itself to match the threads to. With such a fine thread the margin of error is too small to reliably get a fit that's not too loose or won't thread on at all, without test fitting the corresponding mating thread. Also I'd probably start with some...

I could always just cut 1mm pitch threads into some bar stock for you. It should result in a better fit for the chuck. Thanks for the offer of the charger but I don't think I will need it now. I had a go at repairing my Cottonpickers charger and amazingly was able to fix it with some...

It could be that, at least partially, but one of my CR123s went pop while not in a torch, so I no longer trust them. I can turn down an M16 bolt for you if you'd like. The myford should be up to the task.

Very nice work. I take it you have a lathe. Hope everyone is well. I recently started going through all my torches to check their condition, remove all the batteries and charge those that required it (I haven't done this for far too long). A few of the cheaper lights had suffered from some...
