Same here. I took my S1 Copper backpacking in August, and decided I should probably pick up an aluminum bodied light for that purpose... Ordered an S1A on Friday along with a 5D3 XM-L2 to mod it with. Going to be excellent out in the wild, and I'll always be reminded of Marshall when I use it...

It's too big, both in diameter and thickness. I've used them, sanding the perimeter down to 14mm, but a 14mm Cu TPad is a better idea. Still needs to be thinned out so the optic will sit properly.

Getting ready to swap another forum member's S1A Cu. Wanted to do a copper MCPCB, had to thin it out for the optic to sit correctly. Soldered myself a little handle and took it to the disc sander. :)
