I needed a high power spot/flood light around the farm, so I picked up a set of square 9 led flood type auto/atvlights from Northern tool. The box said 24watts 9 to 28 volts, so I turned the lights of in my building, hooked to ,y power supply and ran the light from 12v to 28v, light output stayed the same, but current dropped to maintain 24 watts. Today I bought a 44 watt led spotlight at TSC on clearance, the manual said 9 - 60 volts ! my power supply only goes to 48 volts, the light lumens stayed the same from 12 to 48 volts and current draw went from 4 amps to 1 amp to maintain 44 watt rating. I mounted one on a 12 v 12 amp SLA battery and one on a 40v Ryobi battery. Hard to believe they can make these so cheap, the cheap ones I bought from ebay in the past would get brighter with increase in voltage, burn out, no regulation at all. These locally bought auto spotlights must have some powerful buck/boost circuits.
