I like to think that we'll never exactly know how the Seals did the job, just that once again, they got the job done...which is how it should be. God bless every one of them past, present, and future.

I read that they're threatening retaliation because of our act of uncalled for violence! I'm astounded that they haven't been blown out of the water long before this by every nation on the seas.

Meh I don't think there's very much they can do.

Retaliation? That's a big pond to throw a rock across.

Well they did say they'll start killing hostages now. In all the hostages takings through the years I don't think they've kill anyone.

Maybe it's time to bring back the WW2 escort system.

If they do, it'll actually be incentive for all the countries the excuse to do something about piracy.

The problem with that is that it is hard to swat a fly with a bazooka. PT boats demonstrated this.

I think a small fast and well armored boat (response #13)or any of the world's fast attack boats
would be a better choice. Stationed by a larger support ship that held helicopters, they would seem better suited.

Let me get this straight.

A ship was taking free food to Africa so African pirates take the ship with the free food and want ransom. So while the pirates hold the ship Africans starve. That's a brilliant plan.

We now have a pirate in captivity. Perhaps I'm being overly morbid, but isn't piracy traditionally punishable by hanging?

blindfold long walk on a short plank!

btw: who was the last president when an american ship was last hijacked by pirates?

On Sunday, Capt. Dale Dye [Marine radio host] had a couple of hours of airtime on the local radio station, and gave a very complete and concise play-by-play of exactly what happened to the Alabama and her captain. Because of his inside Armed Forces connections, he had a wealth of advance knowledge and details that many in the mainstream media require a lot of time to find. If you'd like to hear how everything actually went down, in thorough and almost Tom-Clancy-novel-esque format, beginning from the moment the pirates were first spotted to when Capt. Phillips was resting comfortably on the USS Boxer, here's the audio/podcast: http://www.kfi640.com/cc-common/mediaplayer/player.html?redir=yes&mps=kfiweekends.php&mid=http://a1135.g.akamai.net/f/1135/18227/1h/cchannel.download.akamai.com/18227/podcast/LOSANGELES-CA/KFI-AM/Captain%20Dyle%20for%20Brian%20Suits%2004-12-09.mp3?CPROG=PCAST?CCOMRRMID&CPROG=RICHMEDIA&MARKET=LOSANGELES-CA&NG_FORMAT=talk&NG_ID=kfi640am&OR_NEWSFORMAT=&OWNER=&SERVER_NAME=www.kfiam640.com&SITE_ID=616&STATION_ID=KFI-AM&TRACK=# [will load/play in browser media player] There's a huge wealth of information in just the first few minutes, and you can continue listening for commentary and opinions.

I heard today that some of those countries were complaining that the pirates got killed.. YEAH - they got got what they damn well deserved! AWWW - poor dead rotting pirates.. Makes you want to cry a river for them, huh? :shakehead

So - for those countries complaining: here's the world's smallest violin for you motha fu**as!
And here's a dance to go with those 3 nicely dead, rotting pirates..
:hitit:

As far as I'm concerned, this would be one worthwhile and justified war, unlike Iraq! And I would be considered a bleeding heart liberal in some circles! Just let me snap the neck of ONE of these pirate *******s and I'll be happy!

WAY TO GO SEALS!

WAY - TO - GO! :twothumbs

I wonder why people seem so gung ho on spending billions on taxpayer dollars on such an obscure, virtually insignificant problem? Whats the probablility of anyone's life ever being affected, in any way, by Somali pirates? Virtually nil. Don't we have better things to spend money on? Of course with the media blitz one would think there were pirates on every corner. And the inconvenient fact is, to solve the piracy problem requires builing a strong Somali state. How many billions are you really willing to spend on a problem that is never likely to affect you? The shipping companies and their underwriters have already figured out that its far cheaper to pay the ransoms and be done with it. Sucks for the crewmembers but its economics plain and simple.

Yeah.. But why continue putting up with their crap?
What bugs me is that this has been done for soo many years and to soo many countries' ships.
It's not till it happens to an American captain, that it becomes an issue and we hear about it. That's what bugs me.
It really should be stopped!

Bomb the hell out of the cowardly *******s and be done with it.
Or let all those ships carry defensive weapons!
