Hi Lightknot, sorry if this is dumb question (never seen a film in the light socket).

Received the LEEF body, lubed it up, installed the Z46 bezel (with new MN10 lamp), two 18650s, tailcap, but wont light up.

Is this due to that "red film" in the light socket where the lamp spring sits? Is this a sticker to peel off or do I scrape it or sand it off?

This is my first "M" Surefire, so I don't know if I'm missing a part(?). The LEEF light socket, where the lamp goes into seems way wider than the lamp spring, but again, I don't know where I'm off, as this is my first "M" light.

Any info is appreciated.

I'll give you a tip on the red film,

No sanding needed,

I tried to sand my first one with the wooden dowel and really fine sandpaper cut in the circle shape and super glued on the end, then realized I could take a really small plastic brush and use some acetone or I think it's called Goof Off it's in a small metal container from the hardware store and it will slowly dissolve that red stuff and then you just wipe it out with a microfiber cloth.

It is indeed an insulator and not conductive at all.

Also I might add I use this stuff on a small plastic bristle brush to clean off the dirty spots that are on Surefire lettering etc. etc. it makes the lettering shine really good and it doesn't hurt the anodizing at all

Hello Greenbean, thanks for the helpful inforation.

LEEF and M lights are new to me, so I was at a loss.

I don't have Goof Off, but have Goo Gone, which also states it removes adhesives and what not. I'll try that.
**Also, thanks for the tip to cleaning the dirty lettering on the lights. I have an A2 four flats and Fury that could use some letter cleaning.

I've never used at citrus-based goo gone on any of my lights, I usually try alcohol first but rubbing alcohol for some reason just doesn't want to clean the lettering where the anodizing is not on those lights.

Tried soaking the "red film" with Goo Gone, alcohol, Goop Hand Cleaner. I guess it loosened it up a little. I ended up scraping it with a mini flat head screw driver and scraped a lot of the red off. It is operational now.

Goof Off is great, but be careful with the Pro Strength Goof Off as it will remove paint! Just a sparing amount on the end of a Q-tip, regular strength, should be fine.
