I was thinking of putting a light or two on the front of my Mako DPV scooter... They have removable panel on the front that I think was used for a light back in the day, but now is just blank and has lifting handle.

Anyone have deal with these emitter arrays, such as this 22-25V - 4000LM one:

I have the battery power, using 2 18Ah Lead acid batteries in the scooter, and that amount of light would really be interesting

I am not really concerned with battery death (the drive motor draws 5-10 times this current, FYI)

Looking for thoughts on cooling - seal units like the head of a can light using schedule 80 PVC/ABS and have back be stainless?

Maybe mount lights on swivels made from goodman handles?

Anyone have experience with this glass aspherical lens and its beam pattern underwater? http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12834

I currently have no idea how I want it switched, the drive motor is with reed switch and it has worked fine for 10 years... leaning towards rotating ring with magnet and reed switch and relay/SSR

Thanks in advance!

Mako has handle in front .... so

In your place I'll do in that way

put one on each side between handle .

Supply through Mako body - 2 AGRO glands to the accumulator .
For scootering I think you need wide angle light to avoid obstacles or not to miss something under your way so small wide reflector or combination tight/wide will be enough
and taking right dimension acryl tube will be fine. S tight beam no - you get primary on hand on Goodman.

Leds depends on consumption (how many, how much current, voltage , driver) I'll take 3S x SSC P7 D bin or CREE MCE to use 12V DC and 2,8A max

(at your place I'll switch Pb gell accumulators to NiMh or Li polymer just calculating on the same weight as you have now to keep scooter in balance - but for same space and I think weight too you get 2 x or more of power )

he , he , he or be man and put DEATH RAY on http://caveadventurers.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3_59&products_id=5 but then you'll move backward.

I do like your tube-style head design, what kind of pattern does it have under water? What is the outer diameter of your tube? That makes the lens, right?

The handle is in front, but so is a nice flat piece of plastic, so I was thinking puck-style light heads that tilt and rotate a bit or are mounted on ball&socket.. but your tube design is nice, like I said.. here are some pics:

edit - trying to use html code to make pics appear smaller..
