Battery looks fine wimmer, if it gets worse just re-wrap the cell.

you have to be careful, though: too much salt on the potato, and you'll be guilty of a salt and battery.

I've connected 2AAA nimh (about 400ma) to a 5mm LED and it ran for about 2 months before I couldn't see any light out of it. I'm guessing the more efficient XPG LED off a lot higher mah source will run for several more months before you have to have pitch dark and a magnifying glass to see "the glow".
