Does anybody have a clue how these instand HID bulbs/lights work. Especially Surefire claims that the Beast is flasheable (and they seem to keep that promise).I searched through the web for some time but the only interesting and informative source for such lights were the ARC from Welch Allyn and these lights seem to need around 30sec. to get nice and bright again. So what's the trick?

From discussion with SF, Xenonics and McCulloch, I understand that instant strike is a function of the ballast and igniter.

In fact, McCulloch indicated that they could achieve instant strike for their X990, but chose not do so as it greatly diminishes the life of the bulb, by a factor of 1/2
