So, 40 pages in... and what I'd like to know is what is Vinh's and jmpaul's single favorite light out of all the ones that you have built/modded or tested? If you had to pick just one... which would it be? :D

S6330vn and 6XLvn/6XPvn

sc62w, s6330vn is great too since it has the same ui, but I like keeping lights in my pocket :)

An interesting few choices guys! Seems Vinh, you prefer multi-emitter lights... Any reason why, perhaps the greater output of light, more floody and useful?

I like the wide range of outputs that the sc62w has.. very versatile; I may need to look at one of those in the future. Looks like it would be quite durable as well.

I really love this list you did for us JMPaul320, and think it should be sticky'ed since I look at it almost all the time, and hope you keep adding to it, even stock lights, since I have a lot of Ultrafire's and other China lights I wished I knew what the real Lumen rating was.

It is stickied on vinh's subforum. Also jmpaul320 has stepped back from the hobby. He sent his light sphere to vinh for him to test lights as he mods them. Many of us are grateful for all of his hardwork. I use the list as a huge aid in deciding what to buy as many do.

Hey guys I have an important announcement:

A change is in order and it is time for me to personally move on from this hobby... maybe not move on completely - but a big change needs to happen. I have really just been slowly losing interest over the last 6 months or so and I really feel the need to simplify my collection and move on from testing lights. I sold around $2000 worth of lights last October... I thought I would end up reinvesting the $ in newer lights but I just seemed to lose interest.

Don't worry! I am working out a deal with vinh to sell him my sphere so that he may take over testing. I will help him get it set up and everything so yall get your lumen fix! :)

I still plan on visiting the forum and chatting with everyone here as I have made some great friends. Who knows, maybe in the future a light will really tickle my fancy and I might get back into things.

I will be putting up a bunch of discounted lights for sale soon if anyone is interested (you can shoot me a PM if you like or just wait for a WTS thread to go up in the marketplace) X60mvn loaded, mm15vn, s6330vn, c22cvn quad, d40avn to name a few... oh yeah and I have a TON of brand new batteries. :) My goal is to get down to 5 lights or less!

Not sure where I will go from here... maybe I will get back into cars or something else... but I have had so much fun with flashlights over the last 3 years and I have met some great people :)

Jmpaul320. No lux reading on the X3 because?

Hammerdown. Jmpaul320 announced his retirement from this thread on June 9th.

Jmpaul320. No lux reading on the X3 because?

This started off as a lumen testing thread only when I first built the sphere - later I bought a second light meter and started measuring throw as well. Some of the lights were sold before I could measure throw (the x3).

Thanks.

this is one light I actually never owned/tested - should be in the 1400 lumen / 500-600kcd range though (as it is very similar to the tn31mb from osts)

Around 500kcd - this is based on owning two TN31's which are essentially the same light, save the blingy heatsink.

Newbie here: Thank you, thank you, thank you for these objective readings. You just saved me some moolah .. was about to buy based on mfg's claimed specs, until I saw this.

Can I flatter you by calling you the "FoodBabe" (yeah, the famous research gal who recently made me change all my beer-buying habits) of flashlights?
