Hey guys
new here... Had a question though
i have a sure fire kx4-bkha head. The light sucks, but I dig the flash light. I'd like to solder in a brighter smled, but how the hell do you open this thing ? It seems sealed up well. Any one know how ?

you need to heat it up to break the threadlock glue, I use a heatgun and then a strap wrench but I make wooden vise jaws first
Drill a 3/4" hole in a block then cut it in half and adjust to grab the head, some neoprene rubber will help grab it as well

welcome to CPF - where your wildest dreams are just a credit card bill away....

Just putting a new LED on there will not automatically increase the brightness. It needs an updated driver that can handle the battery voltage (one or more cells) and output the proper voltage to the LED.

That looks like a standard Z44 head. What is the body you are using with this? If it is a 6P style, then the sky's the limit on what dropin you can use here. This is one I built from a Silva mule dropin body.

This is the moonlight mode, but it can put out pretty much stupid-levels of light
