Hello. I've got some m61 drop ins that are about 10 years old now and found a 6p and 9p I was going to put new drop-ins into and give away my old ones to friends. I was wondering if a new m61 and an m61n would be similar in output to an m61 and m61-219 from around 2012. The sticker on my m61 says "233 m61" if that helps provide any info.
Thanks in advance

if your old ones are M60's not M61's then the new batch of M61's are roughly double the output.

Oh ok. They were probably well under 300 lumens. His new ones are putting out 450 or so. you should see a difference

If I remember correctly, the original M61's were 230 lumens

At least that's what I remember my first M61's in Feb of 2010 being

So, my WAG would be that is one of the original M61's

I think my only complaint about Malkoff products is he should have come up with a better naming convention.

M61 evolved so much over time that the early version has no relationship to the new one. Including M91T. The earlier versions had lower lumens and not running on one cell. The latest version does. M1SHO picked up twice the lumens of the early version. (nearly).Z
The Hound Dog evolved. Early versions were much weaker.

The 18650 Hound Dog should have been named something else entirely as the "Super" as these are much different lights.

So when you are looking at a used module in the for sale, you may have no idea what it is, or the previous owner may have no idea.

Maybe just move on to M62, M63.. M70.? I think the naming convention was based on Surefire P60, thus M60? Then M61. But nobody gets Surefire anymore, or their P60 modules, that's 10-15 years ago.

One thing I have been surprised about, is how Gene has stuck to the McGizmo reflectors after all these years, respect!!
Recall how everyone criticized the M61 reflector when it was first released - at least until they had tried the M61, lol.
I confess to being skeptical myself, at least until I had one; then I couldn't sell my (optic) M60's fast enough. :)

I still recall the first time I shined my MD-2 with M61 (cool) on an open field and went to say "holy cow" but no sound came out. I could not believe what my eyes were beholding. I'd never imagined such a wonderful cast of light could erupt from a flashlight. I just stood there for a minute waving it slowly back and forth across that field of short grass. There was a slight mist in the air, which added to the effect.

Old M61, I don't remember when I bought it but around 2010 maybe. Anyone know how many lumens?
