Got mine today! Pure white Malkoff goodness, cannot wait till dark! I see it runs on a single 18650 as well, like other M91's.

what is the runtime like on a single 18650 cell? about an hour I would think? Something similar the the 18650 Hound Dog I suppose?
I can't remember the gen of M91T I got. And I can't believe all this time it didn't occur to me to try it on a 1x18650 cell. I tried every combination other than that, including 3x18650 cells. Yeah, imagine the runtime on 3x3500 mAh cells. On low.
It does look a bit odd, but it works. And it's 123 friendly, and you can stick 4 (four) of them in there if you got MD4 body.
So, if for some reason you are the CR123A guy and that's all you run, M91T is your thing because it's more efficient off 4 versus only 3 that M61 can do.
Why would you do that? Several scenarios I can think of. If I travel, I am not bringing my charger and a multitude of 18650s. Much easier to use primaries and just discard them. They are lighter and cheaper short-term. And if someone pays for them, it's a no brainer.

What's a good way to mark the M61 heads from the M91. The heads aren't marked. I use a paint stick to identify my holsters…but that won't look too good on these flashlights

Use a Brother P-Touch label maker.

I use a paint pen and mark the back of the dropin. That way I don't have to take the head apart. But, and this is sad I can tell what's in my lights just by a quick look at the beam. God I need to get a life😂😂

Interesting.. so 3x18500 have less mAh than 2x18650 3500 mAh cells.
I will post my 3x18650 M91T configuration
But any 3-cell config - more voltage, thus more lumens.

could someone elaborate on the differences between various generations of M91T?
I have one and it seems to be of an older generation. Definitely does not run on a single 18650.

I cannot speak to the older but the 3 that i have run ( albeit at lower output-I'm guessing 600 lm or so ) on a single 18650 in a MD2 body. Haven't used any of them long enough to give even a guess on run time however because quite honestly I just see no reason to go smaller then the MD3 if carrying a MD as the MD2 doesn't come in smaller enough to justify the reduced output.

I've been running my M91T MD3 on two 18500 1700mAh Keeppower batteries, which give a runtime about 1 hr 25 mins on high, I've just noticed that the same batteries are now available from Keeppower with 2300mAh's, which should give closer to a 2 hour runtime. Perfect!!

Update to this 3-year old thread.
Got the latest-greatest version of M91T. The older one had that plastic lense pop out from time to time.
It's pure white. Seems even brighter than my old M91T. The major difference that I noticed, it runs on 1x18650 while the older version did not. Although the lumens are drastically lowered on one cell. Runtime too I suppose.
All in all nice and what you would expect. It's the intermediate between M61T and the Hound Dog. If you think the Hound Dog is too much to carry, you can EDC a M91T. I forgot what "T" stands for - throw, but "Turbo" is just as applicable.
I really like it how it, like the Hound Dog, can take either 2x18650 *or* 4x123, if you must. I dumped the MD3 body since the runtime was just sad from 18500s.
