I use the Maha C9000 with spacers, for my NiMH N cells.

For your 400mAh cells, I would dial down the charge current to 200mA.

My own N cells are from Interstate Batteries, and have a slightly higher labelled capacity, so I usually charge those at a slightly higher rate.

Don't forget that Li-Ion and NiMH charge protocols are very different (!)
