I asked him the exact same a few days ago he said put the LED on top of a solder gun and heat up it and then flip the dome with a blade and Don't do it too fast. I did my first one the other day and came out perfect!

I was actually surprised I did it without destroying the phosphor, I didn't want to risk it because of the price of the emitters but so many people were asking about them I just had to bite the bullet and try it! But the risk paid off!

Tried the MTG2 dedome on my M2500.
I successfully got the dome off along with about 30% of the phosphorus.
I'm so ashamed ha ha
O well better luck next time right?
At least it still works and I didn't totally kill it.

Don't worry about it keep trying! I destroyed a lot of emitters learning to de dome but it is the only way to learn!

That's why I pay the Pros to dedome my DIY stuff--My failure rate has a bad ratio--plus just because it still works doesn't mean it will draw full amperage

How'd the 1 you fixed look--how was the beam and throw

Actually it turned out ok.
Has one ring in it.
But I am going to take it apart and fix some soldering and focus it a bit better.
I didn't have much time last time and just wanted to see if it would work.

Ouch, and I thought my 10% was bad. It was on my M22, my first de-doming.

The dumb way ha ha
Took the reflector off the pill then heated the pill while I slowly cut shallow around the dome and lifted.
I will take the whole board out next time.
We all learn by making mistakes right?

Ohh, yeah it's better taking the whole board out, you don't need to cut around the dome, just get a knife and put some pressure on one point and lift, yes it's the only way?!

Nope, just pick one point and apply pressure upwards, just don't flick it fast, it will slowly peel off, if not, stop and heat it more then try again, if still in doubt visit my sales thread
