Ned some help to decide on some drop in fore my mag 2d with mop reflector.
I'm looking for some 2D drop in in 300 lumen range ore a warm XM-L driven 1A.
What is there for drop-ins beside Malkoff Devices out there?.

That finish is awesome... I would send it to jayrob for proper treatment. He put a 4000k xml in my 3D that screams. He'll pretty much give you any configuration possible.

The LED drop in market is now much smaller since Maglite started making LED flashlights.

LEDs need 3.6V. 2D NiMH is only 2.4V. 3D alkaline is only 3V. Boost circuits are very difficult to make in the higher amperages (too much heat).

This combination makes it very hard to find very bright LED drop ins that are not custom.

superbrightleds PR2-3WHP-3V is 180 LED lumens but they have a $25 minimum for international orders.

it sounds like Malkoff Devices drop-in fore 2D maglite is my best choice then
