Would a AAA->AA adaptor work without fouling on the springs that the light uses to achieve AA / CR123A compatibility?

If it fits and the contact points make a solid connection, I think it should work.
Don't have such an adaptor, so I can't try.

Sure you can! Roll up a ball of aluminum foil with the AAA in a strip of paper, keep winding until it fits. :)

looks a decent and compact size from the pics, don't see too much knuring on it, will it be easy hand slide?

Have used the light during heavy rainfall, and it functioned perfectly.

The only knurling are the ridges. Although these ridges provide some grip, I can see the light slipping in your hand when wearing gloves and the light is wet. During testing I'd enough grip during use.

Saw someone used its lanyard to get the clip off the body, looks easy. Maybe u can have a try.
