I use 4 Ni-MH in my quantum 2000, very similar set up to the Turtle. I think the Turtle is a bit brighter. I would suspect most 4 AA LED lights would be fine using Ni-MH or Ni-Cad.

When I run 4 Ni-MH in my light it pulls about 50mA per LED, with alkaline it was pulling 80mA. Supposedly they claim it is OK to run 80, but I like being able to use the rechargables and the LED's don't get so hot that way either. I did actually test the Quantum by running it on 4 D cells for over 2 days constant and didn't have any problems.

Are there any LED flashlights that are particularly well suited for using NiMH AA batts? I have a lot of them because of my Digicam and some cordless phones.

I just ordered the Turtle Light II and it uses four AA's. If those are in series, it seems like the 6V produced by 4 alkalines would be kind of high, but 4.8V produced by the NiMH's might be just right.

Anyone have any thoughts on the subject? I'm always willing to learn.

The new Brinkmann runs fine on rechargeable
as well as LW 2000 , PLW 2 ,PLW 3 ,and Turtle . However you must use care , the lights that
use batteries in a line ( rather than side by
side ) can damage cells when dropped and
even by the 'compression' of turning them
on .
