Just got a Nitecore Um20 and a set of eneloops, the screen reads EE when placed in. Any idea what I am doing wrong? It charged my rcr123's perfectly fine. Thanks in advance. Merry Christmas.

Well thats a rookie mistake, any recommendations for a usb smart charger? Want to charge via portable solar panel.

Just got a XTAR VC4 charges everything, and does not take long to top up a pair of 3400mAh 18650s, just make sure your wall adaptor is a 2a + type, XTAR said the Ipod one is 2a, I happened to have one here which works ok

If you are planning to do solar, the best method is to use the solar panel(s) to charge a power bank, then use the power bank to feed the charger. Just make sure the power bank you use has enough capacity to fully charge the cells you are using.
