The outputs are divided as follows when using the lithium cell:

  • High: 1000 lm (measured 1100 lm) – 1h30min
  • Mid: 300 lm (measured 360 lm) – 2h45min
  • Low: 50 lm (measured 55 lm) – 20h

or divided as follows if AA primary cells are used:

  • Mid: 500lm (measured 430 lm) – 2h
  • Low: 60lm (measured 50 lm) – 11h

Body and materials
The MT2A Pro, like any other latest generation Nitecore flashlight, is built with high quality materials which guarantee its sturdiness and durability over time. The body is made of high-quality aircraft-grade aluminum, which gives the flashlight light weight and impact resistance. Additionally, this flashlight is designed to be water resistant with an IP68 rating, meaning it can be submerged up to 2 meters without being damaged.

The MT2A Pro is equipped with a powerful UHi 20 LED with a maximum output of 1000 lumens.

The long and slim design makes this flashlight comfortable to hold and carry, for example in a jacket pocket. Its tapered shape combined with the particular workmanship of the body also make this model particularly fine and elegant.

The MT2A Pro is a minimal torch that makes its simplicity its strong point: a single switch to access, turn off the light and switch from one output to another.
Muggle-proof interface: full pressure on the switch to turn the light on or off and half pressure to move from one level to another. All very simple and intuitive. Only three output levels are available in the loop and no strobe or flashing special levels. Only three levels: High 1000 lumens, Medium 350 lumens, Low 50 lumens.
It's a shame they didn't think of a really low level, for example 1 or 2 lumens. I could easily see this torch in the hands of my GP while he inspects my tonsils, but unfortunately with 50 lumens of minimum output it would be unusable and blinding and would also risk cooking my throat... XD!
The MT2A Pro is powered by a 1600mAh Nitecore model 14100 battery. Alternatively, it is possible to use two AA cells but the output levels available in this case will only be 2: Medium of 500 lumens and Low of 60 lumens.

The tailcap is not flat but you can still use the flashlight in a vertical position. Additionally, there are two large holes that allow you to attach lanyards or small carabiners for transportation.

There is no charging interface on the body of the flashlight which is instead present on the battery. It is a type-C port that allows the cell to be recharged in around 4 hours, therefore a rather slow recharge.

Tint, beam and beamshot
The optical component of the Nitecore MT2A Pro consists of a latest generation NiteLab UHi 20 LED, which offers an almost neutral shade of approximately 5500K. This LED is remarkably small but extraordinarily powerful. Its circular shape ensures uniform and clean lighting.

The optical part also includes a deep aluminum reflector, mirror polished, and a lens with double anti-reflection treatment.
The light beam emitted by the Nitecore MT2A Pro is regular, without artifacts, with a perfectly circular spot that provides intense brightness and a wide spill that allows you to illuminate the surrounding terrain when the flashlight is held in a horizontal position.
Below are some shots in the dark.

Final Considerations
The Nitecore MT2A Pro is a very high quality flashlight, which makes ease of use its strong point:
Pro

  • Simple and intuitive interface: only 3 output levels
  • double throw switch to turn on, off or change output level
  • Extremely clean and uniform beam
  • Neutral tint
  • Quality materials, perfect anodization
  • Elegant design
  • Possibility to use the lithium cell supplied but also AA primary cells

Cons

  • Battery charging not very fast despite using a USB type-C interface
  • Lack of a really low level: 50 lumens are really a lot especially when the beam is not very widespread as in this case

Thanks for reading!!!
