Re: 1000+Lumen Malkoff Quad in Duracoat Host! **2nd REDUCTION**

Does this include an adaptor to hold 2 x 18650 cells?

Does the light run in regulation?

It doesn't have one now, but I can rig one up for you, or you can get one of the modders to make a fancy one with Delrin. You'd have to use a short spring also.

Each emitter has it's own regulated circuit.

Thank you for the quick reply, I will think about it further.

I would certainly want a reliable holder for 2 x 18650 cells, which would just slot in and go.

I make my battery sleeves with a variety of plumbing and irrigation parts from Home Despot, and o-rings when needed. It completely insulates the cells from the inner wall of the flashlight. It would fit perfectly, and hold the cells perfectly centered, but it wouldn't be as pretty as a lathe-machined delrin tube like the kind wquiles makes.

As I said, you'd also need a short spring mod, because two 18650s are longer than 2 D cells. This means you'd have to change springs if you were changing from C or D cells to 18650s.

Not at this time, but you're welcome to split them up and re-sell what you don't want.:naughty:

Interesting coating on this.. =)

Hope the sale goes well.. far beyond my means.

Is there a link to this build? My coworkers and I are painfully curious to see what the beamshots look like.. solely for educational purposes! :eek:oo:

There really isn't a "build" involved here. The Malkoff Quad was a very short-run project done by Gene Malkoff/Malkoff Devices a couple of years ago, but he couldn't sell them for enough to pay for the parts and efforts.

It's a "drop-in" which will fit in any D-Mag.

Here's a thread with comparative beamshots and other information.

Going back to an earlier question, your setup could be run with two of AW's C LiIon's with the right spacer, and possibly run with two D LiIon's, but not sure there. Diameter might be too big for a stock mag D body. BTW, that coating is beautiful.

It'll fit two D Li-Ions, or a 2x Stack from KD. Plenty of room. It'll also run on 2x D-sized LiFePO4s, but not quite as brightly.
