I removed the switch module from an AA minimag & one of the pin contacts got lost - the one that folds over to ground it to the tube. I had an old Brinks copy, and use the cylinder from it instead, which was good because the Terralux module is thick & it fit better.
Worked good, so I turned it off & set it down.
A bit later I picked it up and it was quite warm.
I guess the ground stayed grounded but didn't contact the LED wire...
So I wonder if you replaced the bulb/led with a resistor you could create a controlled handwarmer ?
Or maybe insert a spring type "turn the dial" egg timer into the head, so it turns itself off after a couple of minutes.
