Thinking of a true 5 milliwatt Laser and noticed this company:
http://shop.z-bolt.com/Sapphire-Galaxy--Extreme-Duty-Blue-Laser_p_301.html

They have a few different Colors including the Blue above and Models including the more durable Blue and one Green which is 515 nm and the more standard 532 nm Greens.
The more durable ones are constant duty.

They say the Green and the Blue versions have visible nighttime beams and say the
Blue has up to 2 mile range and up to 5 mile range on the Green.

These are similar to the Astronomy Lasers like Galileo but possibly have a more concentrated Beam ( less divergence ).

1) Is this possible on a < 5 milliwatt ( true rated) Device ? The visibility Ranges claimed ?

2) The idea of a < 5 milliwatt Device with an IR Filter is so I can play around with it using caution but no goggles and also not worry too much about the Beam traveling 10 miles etc. outside.
There is conflicting info on the danger of a 5 milliwatt beam .

There is info that Pilots if they even SEE a beam anywhere are required to report it...

Which COULD mean they report something far away not pointed in their direction or on the ground even pointed at a distant tree ...so the low power could help diminish visibility to them even if they see it on the ground .

This is a good reason not to use a Laser outdoors at all...but I assume with utmost caution...no problems will occur.

OK so any experience or opinions on those claims?

3) Much conflicting info on the Safety of reflected beams of a < 5 milliwatt IR Filtered Laser off white walls etc.

Safe to view the Beam or the" Dot" indoors without Goggles ( not directly into eyes of course)?
Thanks.
