Universal Phone Dock?

Does anybody make a cheap cradle that just has a hole in the bottom and back so you can pull the usb cord through the cradle, plug in phone, then set down phone onto it keeping phone in portrait position? I have a note 3 with a big case and I am trying to find a dock that would work. Seems to me a wire pulled through the cradle is the easiest solution. Could work with any phone in any case. Heck, a woodworking hobbyist could build one out of wood!

In the alternative a dock for note 3 in a hybrid case would also be cool. There is no dock that works with my phone in its case. Any ideas? Thanks very much for your suggestions.

Not all phones have the usb port on the same side. Look at Qi wireless charging, then make yourself a stand/dock with the charger inside and put the receiver inside your phone/tablet.
