Are there any current equivalenys to the original Surefire Titan?

I picked up a used Titan several years ago, and it's everything I want in a tiny flashlight: AAA battery, 2 light levels, reasonably waterproof, small enough to always be at hand.

I was shocked to discover that Surefire no longer makes them. Constant "upgrading" of an ideal product is typical of the current philosophy of merchandising - keep adding features that someone may want, and disregard those who just want simplicity, quality and functionality.

Obviously, I'm too old to participate in the modern marketplace, alas.

Olight i3T 2 EOS is a decent dual fuel AAA light with 2 modes. Tail switch

Single mode keychain twisty would be an Emisar KC1 (dual fuel), McGizmo Saphire (aaa only), Fenix Silvglow (aaa only)

I haven't found one like to T1A. IMO, the T1A stands alone with it's design and UI. It's a compact light that's a pleasure to use. I agree, it's unfortunate SF discontniued the T1A.

Although I would like to own another. Considering the current situation that the light has been out of production for quite awhile, re. available (warranty) parts for repair. I'll more then likely will not own another.

The original Surefire Titan (T1) was a CR2 light and ~500$ since it was (from what I know) Surefires one and only light made of titanium
Short after the T1 a Surefire titan T1A came out it was an aluminium light working like the T1 but using CR123. The UI of T1 and T1A was the same, just twist the head to switch light on of and adjust the brightness with infinite steps.

Years after this two AAA were coming more or less at the same time, a aluminium AAA light and a brass AAA light with "titanium anodizing". They were named "Titan Plus" and "Titan" if I remember correctly.

But I guess you are referencing the the last two since you were talking about AAA. If this is the case, no Surefire does not have AAA lights anymore. There are a lot AAA lights on the market that are quite ok ... Olight, Sofirn, Lumintop, .... to much to name.

The Fenix Silvglow that I own (2 copies) has three modes, decently spaced (100, 35, 5). It would make a good replacement for the AAA Titan. Unfortunately, it seems to be discontinued.

This, unfortunately, doesn't seem to be a really popular format, anymore. Sofirn had a 2-mode AAA that was great, but not as robust as the Surefire. The current Titan Plus really is great, but 3-modes (2 would be better) and a hideously green beam. Still, it's durable and buttery smooth threads.

I have a Fenix Silvglow, and it's now as smooth, but about 1/3 of the price. Also 3 modes. A bit sharp on the edges, and even the high CRI beam is a bit ugly.

My next best suggestion would be a single mode Peak Eiger. Not as bright, either 1 mode or QTC (which is...not great). Reasonably priced, VERY well made, and made in the US.

A cheaper, but decent single mode option is the Killzone penlight. Don't know how durable that is in comparison, though.
The Skilhunt E2A is a very cost effective single mode AAA. Quite nice. I like it better than the Olight one, because you can get it in high CRI. BUT, the Olight can often be had for $5 shipping.

Prometheus Beta is the expensive option. A couple of styles and materials made in limited batches and machined in the US!
Fenix Silvglow is still out there at distributors like Brightguy.

Oh, good call, buy yeah....quite pricey. I've been sort of eyeing that for a good while.

Malkoff recently sold an anodized one, but over in the Malkoff thread, some people said they'd gotten some titanium Betas that weren't the best quality.

I did some searching, but didn't find a lot, so I can't say.

For what it's worth, I have a prometheus clip for my Titan and for one of my Eigers, and it's a fantastic clip. That being said, a Surefire Titan AND the Prometheus clip is still a good deal cheaper, if you don't mind the nightmare tint of the Surefire (while I'm a tint snob, form and function are so much more important for EDC), it's absolutely a fantastic EDC light with the Prometheus clip, though my SS Eiger with the same clip finds itself in my pocket about as much...if you don't mind single mode, and a lot less light. 300 green lumens from the Titan are...quite ample, and at medium (80 lumens), you get more output and runtime with the Surefire vs. the Beta.

And, "titanium" and "twisty" go together like "peanut butter" and "tuna," with "brass" and "twisty" are 100% PB&J, haha.

Seems a shame Surefire has moved on, away from AAA, but at least there are alternatives.

Surefire went away from everything in the flashlight area. My guess is there are too much MiC flashlights that has the same quality at a lower price.

Surefire used to have really great lights and a great product line. But today looks like flashlights are not interesting anymore....
