I remember reading an ad from the late 1940’s, this brand of TP was bragging, in CAPITAL LETTERS, “No Splinters!!!” We live in such splendor!😁
100% guaranteed to be splinter free toilet paper didn't exist until 1935. Northern spent a lot of $ on R&D to invent a process that would refine paper pulp to that level.
 
I bought a bamboo content towel once, back in 2005 from some crazy expensive department store in Paris, France, I think it was BHV. This has got to be the roughest, toughest towel that I have ever used! You could just about substitute this thing for sandpaper! I'll probably have to throw it out, I doubt it will wear out in my lifetime.

Ahem, good luck with your bamboo toilet paper. Have some gauze pads handy for after you wipe with it.
Sheets, shirts, and other fabrics saying they're made from bamboo are made from it, sort of. They use viscose, which is made from bamboo using the same process as is used to make Rayon from eucalyptus, spruce, pine, and beech. Rayon is just a brand name for viscose. Modal is a brand name for viscose made from beech wood.

It would be interesting if there's a process to finely shred bamboo to fibers as fine as cotton then spin it into thread to weave or knit into fabrics.

Work on Rayon started in the 1850's and it was patented in the 1880's. First commercial Rayon production was in late 1905. Originally it was created as an alternative to silk. In the 30's and 40's versions were made to copy the feel of cotton, wool and linen. The wikipedia article has tons more info https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rayon

Today I learned that there is more than one type of candelabra base bulb. I've been using E12 lamps for ages, and I bought one that looked like a E12 candelabra base, but when I got it home I discovered that it didn't fit because it was an E11 "mini" candelabra. What a difference a silly millimeter makes.

E11 is used for Halogen bulbs and LED replacements for halogen bulbs. They're smaller than E12 to prevent the HOT halogen bulbs from being used in fixtures not rated for their heat output.

After looking this up, now I know what that useless LED COB bulb is for that some eBay scammer sent me instead of the items I bought. It must be an LED bulb meant for replacing a halogen bulb. I have no halogen lamps. No idea where the bulb is now.

E26 is a common "medium" size used for 110~120V. E27 is the "medium" Edison base for 220~240V. The maximum and minimum tolerances for the thread sizes do overlap a bit so a minimum E27 could screw into some E26 sockets (and will be dim or not light up) and a maximum E26 could screw fairly well into an E27 socket, then go *pow* when turned on.

Some LED bulbs are made with base threads sized to fit most of either socket size and have a wide input range power circuit to provide the same light output.

Thank you Galane. This makes sense. I guess I'm questioning why halogen bulbs couldn't have been designed with a base size that's nearly identical to another existing type. That decision was probably made a couple of decades ago. There's a tradeoff between base size and the area of the contact surface in terms of current carrying capacity, so they probably didn't want to go smaller than an E11.
 
I swear i just did this while reading a papper manual font was to small so i tryied to zoom in on font like you do on a cell phone. So today i learned im a idiot
