What watch you're wearing?

What do y'all use to store your watch collection? Post your solution.

I just had a package of 3 items arrive. My first attempt at finding a good option.

Travel Case
Glass top storage box to help in charging the Tough Solar G-Shock and Protrek watches of my last 40 years of watch wear.
A lamp to charge them.

Top row is my old watches. Next 2 rows I have purchased in the last 6 months since finding this thread.
2nd row is Mechanical.
3rd row is Quartz.
Room to grow.

1 watch missing is on my wrist. The Mido Ocean Star 600.

Carry On!
I am actually keeping them in their original boxes and I seldom use a leather pouch when travelling. Eventually, I will make one in my woodworking shop that would accommodate them all. This will not be physically different than the one in your pic and the ones iacchus suggested, other than the glass top. I have only one solar watch and I don’t want to expose my mechanical watches to any light, let alone sunlight, when they rest. I can prevent this by keeping the box in a drawer but I still prefer a wooden lid. All I need is overcoming my procrastination.

I have a very large collection of Seiko and Citizen watches and I used to wear a different watch out of the collection every day, which was perfect for the watch forums “WRUW?” (what are you wearing today?) threads. 😁

But then about 8 years ago I purchased a Seiko SARX055 and put it on after my ‘un-boxing’ pictures. I never took it off. 😍

2017_Seiko_SARX055_45_12x8.jpg

• It has a Titanium case and bracelet, so it is nice and light (106 grams).
• The case size is 40.8 mm (11 mm thick) which I find ideal on my 7.25” wrist.
• The Ti case and bracelet are hardened with Seiko's proprietary Diashield and difficult to scratch.
• The watch has serious finishing, mirror-like and satin brushed surfaces with razor sharp transitions.
• The watch features an almost invisible Sapphire crystal (anti-reflective on the inside).
• The dial has a wonderful “washi” paper texture, which aids legibility and adds a lot of visual interest.
• The main hands and hour marks contrast well with the dial and are very polished and faceted.
- This makes the watch very legible overall, even in the dark. The facets catch any light available.
• The blue (painted) second hand is very easy to pick up at a glance, very easy to see.
• I can hand-wind it as needed and the 6R15 movement has a 50-hour reserve.
• Water resistance to 100 meters.
• A reviewer summed the watch up succinctly, “Restrained Opulence”. 💎

Sure, I love my gigantic, clunky 200 gram Seiko divers, with their enormous timer bezels and heavily lumed everything! But they really aren’t made to be your everyday watch, and the lume expires, whereas I found my SARX055 to be my perfect all-day, everyday watch. 👍

The Spork is a great watch, but a serious chunky boy, and light it is not.

That's SARX is a beauty!

I recommend keeping track of the original boxes and tags, develop a way to quickly reference their connection to the watch so you can re-unite them efficiently. I was pretty casual, and then had to move suddenly when my landlord sold the house. I had to just put the boxes and such into bags and move them. Now it is time to start bequeathing/selling my watches and the eager recipients REALLY want those original boxes and tags!! It’s difficult to find the proper ones and so wish I had the foresight I am recommending to you! 😬

Hey iacchus looks like a Seiko fan! 😁 We may have crossed trails in the past, when I usually went by “Motowatch. 👍

I used a Sinn 656 style second hand from Yobokies on my modded Super Spork, I mean if we are copying the Sinn we might as well do a good job. 🤣

It's a great touch.
I need to replace the crystal on mine. Years of abuse have left it with plenty of "beauty marks"

Thanks a lot for your suggestion. I now have one more excuse to delay making a big one. 😁

It's a day for the mighty G-square.
The river rises, but we don't lament or relent. We persevere. And wear muckboots.
I had a ‘thing’ for the Casio “Twin Graph” for about a decade or two, and funny story I did not know you had to “zap” a contact on the movement when you changed the battery, so when the battery ran down on one, I would just end up buying another one! Doh!! 😁 I still have one in my collection that I ’notched” a nicer strap onto.

I will always believe that they engineered it that way to just sell more watches to folks.

I took off my Seiko SARX055 for the first time in years and strapped on an old favorite. It is a custom Seiko Samurai SNM009 with the black bezel off an SNM011 and the black hands off a Ti Samurai SBDA005.

I love the texture on the SNM... watch dials, but I don’t like the thinner, original hands, and I also don’t like silver hands on a silver dial. >L< I also don’t like Seiko’s habit of silver bezels on silver watches and black bezels on black watches. With few exceptions I prefer the contrast of a black bezel on a silver watch and vice versa. What do you think? ^L^

Significantly better looking than the original! I dont like silver hands on a white dial either.

I have a Hamilton Khaki Automatic (38 mm) that I wear on a bracelet. Like so many people I found that the size adjustment is just not up to it. Either its too loose or a little too tight especially on a hot day. I prefer bracelets so I've been looking around for a solution. I recently bought a replacement (milled) clasp on Amazon UK that seems to do the trick. Its not a straight swap with the Hamilton clasp but I have found that the back panel (the piece that has Hamilton engraved on it) is a straight swap with the Amazon purchase. That one has 6 adjustment holes vs the 3 of the Hamilton. Its got a brand name of Giyofom (!!) and cost me under 10 uk pounds. Its given me one or two mm extra to make a comfortable fit. I've only just done it so the jury is out for the moment.

Similar to my custom white Samurai, today I am wearing a white Seiko Stargate SKZ323, with the black bezel off a SKZ329. I think it looks so much better this way.

Right click and "Open Image in New Tab" until you get the "+" magnifying glass to see full resolution.

At least Seiko figured out the hand color right on this model. ~L~

@weklund ,,did you trade a motorcycle, car, or take out a loan for the Submariner?
I bought this beater "New" in 1980 for $850.00 US. I'd spent two years working in Iran and a pocket full of cash. One of the best purchases I've made so far. Still wear my 1680 often and the limerance is still there every time I wear it ... 🍻
