What kind of collector are you?

I have maybe 50 ‘boutique’ lights with my most expensive being a Zebralight SC-600 at $95 delivered, so really nothing too Gucci. I guess I like some for aesthetics, some for price and some more for size, as I like the lipstick sized pocket lights, since I carry a lot of things when I leave the...

    Orbtronic 21700 Protected Cell

The protection circuits are generally made by Seiko. The base cell is generally Sony/Murata or Sanyo/Panasonic. Chris

    Li-ion batteries...current trusted brand?

I stick with Sony/Murata, LG, Samsung and Panasonic/Sanyo. Also, Molicel is well regarded in high drain 21700s. Chris

I read 4.75 vdc off my Baton4 charger.

Yes, you should be concerned, if you have a fresh battery and if you’re using a DMM. That’s way too high. Switch things around, changing one variable at a time. Chris

    Buying rechargeable batteries.

Eneloops (made by Fujitsu) are the best NiMH rechargeable batteries made for the consumers of Planet Earth. Chris

What's the current recommend for a "9V" NiMH charger?

I’ve never noticed, as I don’t have the others and only bought the 9v batteries. Chris

What's the current recommend for a "9V" NiMH charger?

13 years ago, I got a Tenergy dual bay NiMH charger with 4 Tenergy Centura 9v batteries and they’re still in service. Chris

Is it okay to put three KEEPPOWER RCR123 into SUREFIRE M3LT?

12.6v vs. 9.0v would be the difference, assuming that it normally takes 3.2v CR123s. Chris

What is your daily load out?

Wallet, keys on a belt loop, Seecamp .32/Ruger LCP2 .380, Olight Baton 4, pack of gum and an SAK SwissChamp in Zermat leather holster. Chris

    Three affordable emergency lights...

I agree, just get something that will make light and be damned with the 'boutique' stuff. Chris

    Storm Checkin

Everything's been fine here in Miami and apart from some moderate 'breezes' Wednesday night, it was a 'chamber of commerce' day and I work at Bayside Marketplace—an outdoor mall catering to tourists, in downtown Miami. I talked with a lot of customers today who came here to wait the storm out...

Old timers.. what are you down to in the flashlight department?

Right now, it's an Olight Baton 4 in olive green and gold trim, but I have about 60 lights on hand, 20 of them at immediate reach. Chris

    Ever lost a Flashlight?

Lost a CooYoo Quantum in titanium and a house key during hurricane Irma, when I was moving downed branches away from my lower neighbor's condo. I went back multiple times to look for it, but no dice. Her condo was fine however. It was a present from Ven, so that was a bummer. I was using a...

    Muyshondt 18650 cells

Since Muyshondt doesn't make cells/batteries and since we don't know what base cells they use, like we do with other 'flashlight brands,' it's really tough to tell whether they're great, or not. Chris

Can You Say "False Advertising" ?

I think it's Andrew Wan (AW) who told the guy at the now defunct LightHound, that he had to fudge the numbers because everybody else was doing it and consumers were gravitating to the higher numbers. Sad, but that's the way it is! Chris

How many lights do you have strategically placed

Most are on my large bathroom vanity, but I have them in various places. After 36 years here in my condo, I can find stuff in pitch black darkness. Even the bathroom! Chris

Is there a 500-1000 lumen keychain flashlight with strobe?

What kind of battery/cell are you thinking of, for power? I guess you could install a keyring on just about any light? Chris
