I could save $400!! But don't really need the product yet.

Yes, I have a Samsung Galaxy A6 Plus that I have had for ~6 years now. Samsung's website has the new S25 Ultra on sale for $400 off normal price. The problem is....my current phone is still working and I'm not one to switch out if my current product is still working. And it does. I can do all the things normal phones do. Sure, the S25 Ultra will have a MUCH better camera, but is it worth spending just over $1000, pre-tax, on it? Probably not. It's the "Black Friday syndrome". "A deal I can't pass up!!" But probably will.
 
I did the Black Friday craziness once, many years ago. Got up at stupid o'clock to get in line at a retail store for a cheap laptop. I got the deal, but looking back at the stress of waiting outside in the cold for a long time for the store to open, I won't do it again. There will be other sales and discounts where I can shop at a sane hour of the day.

At least it was a laptop...not wanting to leave empty handed on a black friday years ago, my dumbass grabbed a $10 printer, marked down from $150. You know how they do...them inks cost more than the printer LOL

Same here..although I have a Samsung S22 Ultra 256GB myself.
 
The biggest problem with all of these "Black Friday" sales, is it brings out the absolute worst in humanity. People fight over last years model TV's like lions fighting over a fresh kill.

And most of the stuff is all discontinued models. Especially electronics. You're better off waiting for the after Christmas sales. People are all spent out, and the only thing crowded in the stores is the return counter.

I definitely know that feeling. And I possibly got an even more raw deal, despite much better up front. My old work place got bought up and incorporated into a larger business. Part of that was to make every printer (and computer) identical across all their stores, and as such the store manager placed all of the old hardware into a pallet and offered any of it up for free for us employees.

"Great!", I thought. And snagged 2 printers. One was a "HP LaserJet 200 colorMFP M276nw" (with an A4 scanner) and the other("s" - I took both of them) 2x "HP Color LaserJet CP 3525n" (the 3525n's weighed in at about 32 Kg / 72 lb each) - both models small-medium business colour laser printers, and we only had a small, home-use Brother mono laser at home at the time. Hooked them up to the home network and reconfigured them, and they all worked great, and have worked great since 2016 - we now use the M276 as the go-to printer at home.

Perfect, right? A FREE printer, with no downsides? Oh yeah, then I looked at the toner costs, when it started to run low: roughly 100 USD per cartridge, and the printer takes 4 of them (Yellow, Cyan, Magenta and Black). 120 USD for the larger Black toner cartridge.

So having purchased one complete set at retail, that was one of the things I started searching for deals for. And I found them: found once all the colours as outlet units (and later Black too), at 90 % discount. I bought everything they had, and since I got the "free" printer, I have replaced everything twice, and still got a complete set with 2 Blacks as spares. But that is still a ~600 USD "free" printer (spanning over almost 10 years of use though).

I expect the printer to kick the bucket before we get to use up all the toner I now have - and there is NO discounts to be found on the toner waste bottle, drum unit or toner heater unit. So when anything inside the printer breaks, that will be it for the HP M276nw.

BTDT once, myself. Exactly once. My realization was: they are ink dispensing devices, and those companies are ink not printer firms. (Yeah, I know. Slow on the uptake, as I'd never previously had an inkjet. That was years ago.) Even at steeply-discounted BOGO pricing, they can be fairly costly.

Since then, I've only had laser printers.

If I need to do any images, particularly color, I simply "print" to PDF then take the file down to the local FedEx/UPS store to print on their copiers (color).

Still, even with the pricing on inks and toner cartridges, it is fairly amazing what a person is able to print off the "home" machine these days. Once was, you'd need a mid-range AGFA setup to get the sort of quality people now see on some units. So-called desktop publishing sure has come a long way, since the early days.

Well, for me, maybe I'll just keep my old A6+ and maybe by next year I'll be needing a new phone. I hope the Samsung store still has the Jade Green color at that time, though.
 
My 26' Werner ladder gained a lot of weight during this last year, so off to Home Depot for something a lot lighter.

Don't judge me bro. All silliness aside, supposedly, this phone won't be supported and I'll be forced to get something else. May hold out for the S26 Ultra.

What's wrong with the A6+? I don't know the model, but if it's supposed to be a low-end, cheap model, it's still better and newer than my Nokia 3720, and seemingly twice the price of my Samsung Galaxy A21s that I bought to replace it when the 2G network is finally closing down (currently expected in 2027).

Fun fact, the Nokia 3720 cost me 130 USD back in 2009. The A21s cost the exact same in 2019 (and support for it ended in 2024).
And apart from a better camera, I see zero benefits with it compared to my Nokia (the last thing I want is the distraction of having internet with me all the freakin' time).

It's about them not being supported, thus they won't work. My supervisor had it happen to one of her phones. It just stopped working because it was no longer supported.

Printer ink might actually be the biggest scam in the world.

Never did the whole Black Friday, physical Brick & Mortar sales thing.
Even back before the internet actually existed! Now that it does, my Black Friday spending takes place in the comfort of my own home.

I only need something printed about two times a year. When our last printer refused to link to a new router, I threw it in the garbage, and then I refused to purchase another one. There are two businesses that will do my print bidding within a mile of our home. Now I have one less thing to dust and spend money on. Cheap printers ($200) suck balls!

Being in the floral business, Thanksgiving was one of our family's busiest seasons. I was always exhausted, but still had to work on Black Friday. Go shopping? No way. Being retired, I only go to the grocery store and Home Depot. Everything else is purchased via my laptop. Oh, happy day! 🤓
