Changing a 26650

Hey all,

I have a Olight S80,with the Olight 26650,4000mAh battery.Can i change it with a Enerpower 4500mAh without any explosions?

If it fits, I don't see why not?

The EnerPower is just a Tensai cell inside, which is a pretty good cell!

Why do you think that he couldn't charge the EnerPower cell with the Olight light/charging combo?

I assumed that what the OP was actually asking about was 'charging' the one cell in the light and not just swapping the EnerPower in and then charging it elsewhere.

Neither cell is a LiFePO4, so the charging algorithm should be fine for both ICR and IMR chemistries, even if the cells are actually dissimilar in that regard.

I could be wrong, no doubt, but I don't think that it would pose a problem, unless there's some sort of proprietary fitment issue. Finally, the capacity differences in the two cells are negligible.

I see now, the cells are physically different from a 'charging' POV. Seems that the negative and positive contacts are both present on the rear of the proprietary OEM cell.

That would be a deal breaker for me, sorry to say.

Not hard to modify the Olight cells to charge in a regular charger. Not that I support what they did.
