Chinese Mystery Folder :
Mystery steel @ 65+HRC ( 65HRC file Skates ) @ 18 degrees per side .
The edge began to roll around 200 slices and hung in there for a solid fail at 400 slices . So , rubbish steel hardened nicely ?

For some reason the knife is branded ZT ( it's not a ZT and there is no ZT like this ) . Has a good action , and 400 slices for mystery steel is decent .
Is it that hard to put your own name to it ? The seller sold the knife as unbranded ! As is , it's well worth the asking price , so why spoil it with BS branding ?
Oh those Chinese , probably thinking they are clever or something ! I mean ... If they were clever , they should have called it BT or AT or DT or anything else .

That’s strange that 65hrc didn’t t perform better than that. Maybe it has retained austenite or something and hard to deburr but then you would have said if it was nasty to sharpen.

I understand .. It could be Hard Cheap Steel ..
Steel is funny stuff . It can be Hard , but have different properties - Depending on those horrible Variables .
Some soft steel might wear better cos it has more carbides or chromium ? and steels lacking edge retention additives , could be hard but wear poorly .. Also hard steel might not be tough steel . Also being so hard , might mean ( 65+HRC ) my burr removal was not up to scratch . ( Im trying to address burr removal more seriously ) .. So many variables ... Though I do like hard steel , especially in pocket knives ( folders ) .

Is the 65HRC advertised or did you test and confirm the hardness?

I have a set of TSUBOSAN HRC files ... 65/60/55/50/45/40 HRC ... So if the 65HRC file skates , then the hardness is 65+HRC
If the 65 bites and the 60 skates , then its 65/60HRC Or somewhere between 65-60 .. I dont have $$ for a rockwell tester
