The TK50 pulls about 1.8amps on fresh cells so runtime with the above setup should be two hours or a little better.

That's decent run times. The best part is not worrying about battery leakage. Hopefully someday Sanyo will make "D" Eneloops. Wishful thinking?

Thanks for the reminder about 2x energizer lithiums having no low. I will pick up some D cells and run enerloops...which I have plenty of for the TK45. I actually think I will sell the tk45 since I actually like the TK50 better. Its beam is just fantastic outdoors. Bright wide spill, and tonight I easilly lit up a house that was 300 yards away. The TK45 would not do that!

I wonder if the TK50 would run longer/brighter with D size NiMh cells like the (Accuevolution D size LSD). I depends on the regulation method.

It might. I went the cheap way last night and bought 4 Rayovac platnum low discharge D batts for $18. How are you liking your Peli 9410... one of the best lights I think I have ever been able to use (although missing it made me buy a pos Streamlight Knucklehead...not nearly the same thing)

I absolutely love this Pelican 9410! I recently had to use it because my house went dark due to a heavy rain storm. My fiancee and her sister were making decorations for a bridal shower and no light! My fiancee said " get your light so we can see" , I pointed it to the ceiling over the table where they were working, they were amazed at the amount of light! Thanks again for your review! The Knucklehead looks to me like a very usefull light, not as bright, but for most household task excellent!

I agree the TK50 is about my favorite XP-G light. Keep in mind you lose both low and mid with Energizer Lithiums. Well you don't really loose them they just all have the same brightness as high. It becomes a two mode light.

It won't run any brighter but it will run longer "IF" you get some of the good ones. Unfortunately the ones presently being sold (AccuEvolution D cells) leave a lot to be desired.
I would rather pay for mdocod's 6 or 8 AA holder and use Eneloops than invest in D cells that didn't have any LSD properties. In fact they are pretty sad nimh cells. This is from a guy who loved the first six AccuEvolution cells he bought. The last six were pitiful.

I have not checked the self-discharge for my Eneloop AA Ni-Mhs even though I've used them since last year.
What do you think of the Eneloop 2000mAh?

The Eneloop nimh AA batteries set the standard for LSD cells and no other company has approached their quality to my knowledge. In fact they are my favorite cell of any type.
Here is how I power my TK50:
Both of these adapters are made by forum member mdocod and are of the highest quality. The one on the right holds six cells and the one on the left eight. For use in the TK50 they must be wired with all top cells in parallel with each other. The bottom cells are in parallel with each other as well. The top set is in series with the bottom set giving you the equivalent of two 6000mah or 8000mah premium quality LSD cells.
These are custom made adapters not to be confused with his regular product that puts six cells in series for 7.2volts. Undoubtedly that would damage the TK50.
The little brass nut that you can see on the negative end of the adapter to the right must be removed to allow room for proper placement of the TK50 tailcap spring. It works fine with the nut removed as the tailcap spring provides more than enough pressure to make positive contact between cells.

Yes, Eneloop AA Ni-Mh is very good.
You have 2 types of mdocod's adapters for 6 AA & 8 AA cells. Looks very well made and sturdy too.
The runtime can be 3~4 hours at least. Really good!
Did you make a special order to use them in parallel to TK50?
I've checked here, but 6AA > 2D adapters are sold out.
Hope mdocod make them again ASAP.

You have to contact mdocod via PM and catch him when he is making a batch. He can make either the 6 or 8 as a special order item. They aren't cheap $35 for the 6 and $50 for the 8 last time I ordered. Could be more now with the price of everything going up. Compared to the price of D cells it isn't too bad considering I have plenty of Eneloops.

I just received the Rayovac platnum precharged D batts I ordered. Much lighter than alkalines...and low works immediately. Light feels 1/3 lighter. Might see if the SF M6 diffuser fits. Very happy right now! Edit: (I guess rayovac precharged d batts are only 3000 mah, so I am not sure what runtimes will be, but they also weigh half as much as alkalines (70 vs. 140 g) so I am willing to take a little drop in runtime to get the much lighter weight and 'free power'.

You wired all top cells in parallel with each other and all bottom cells with each other as well for TK50 by yourself.
I have many AA Eneloops & a charger. So will get mdocod's adapter to get more runtime.

The adapters come from mdocod properly wired I just load them with cells and use. Just ask him for a 6 cell or 8 cell 2D adapter wired for 2.4volts. He will know exactly what you want.

I have not bought a charger yet...but there are several avail on line..and for about $30 at target/walmart... I just compared the beam to my Fenix TK12 R2 easilly brighter in spill on high...and the spot is as intense on level 2 (65L?) as the TK12;s is on high.
Hi there 357mag1, just a quick question from a newbie who bought the TK50 a few months back, i have seen the adaptors on here made by mdocod and they look to be very well made, but in your post you say that you have to remove a nut so that the adaptor will fit into the body of the TK50, how do you have to do that if they are custom made to fit into the tube....?????
