L10 or T10

If your priorities in order were:

1. ease of twisting head on & off smoothly with one hand
2. least "wobbly" threads (erroneous mode jumping near the on/off border)
3. smoothest, whitest beam without artifacts
4. durability/cs
5. efficiency at medium
(min/max outputs, throw, overall size/weight, clips, etc. less important to me between these two)



Of what I know I'm weighing the L10's available 219 emitter & fully knurled smaller head for turning vs. the T10's spring instead of foam, & 17.5hrsx20l over 8hrsx32l of the L10. What i don't know is which has the nicer threads, least wobbly, smoothest turning head, thrunite or l3 illumination better cs if there's a problem. To be used exclusively as twisty. Thoughts?

I don't know about the T10 but the threads on my L10 are pretty goo. No thread play and no wobble (if you mean pushing down on one side to see if it moves). Used it for a while now and the odd bit of lube is needed to keep it twisting smoothly though, otherwise it gets hard to twist one handed.

A quick note. The L10 has brass threads in the head. The L10 has little play. For the T10, I find this alloy model best, steel next and the ti last. The alloy feels great as a twisty with little play. The steel is good, and the ti has somewhat gritty threads with the most play.

I'd use the T10 as a clicky but if I wanted to use as a twisty my preference is the order shown above.

Brass does sound good, didn't know that. I wish they made flashlight threads out of something like the phosphor bronze washers they use in high end folding knives to make them so smooth.

I think I'll start with thet10 first just because free shipping/penalty free returns from amazon if i do get a wobbler, then go with the L10.

Same here, but I did finally start liking twisties a bit more. Can't wait until my L10C w/ Nichia 219 arrives tomorrow!! I went with the natural color this time since my L10s are both black.

I'm a fan of the Thrunites. But the L10 is a very good twisty.

my T10S in stainless has a very nice cool white emitter, 3-level. but it is too heavy for me to shirt pocket carry. it does have mode memory which is nice sometimes.

the L10C is aluminum with brass threads. both bodies, T10S & L10C, are very similar in design & size. both clickies function the same. full press forward click for on & partial press or full click press to advance through the modes. thankfully neither light has blinky mode. i prefer the lighter weight of the L10C for shirt pocket carry & i generally prefer 1xAA lights to reset to lowest mode. The L10C, like the L10, reverts to lowest output mode after being off for about 5 seconds which is fine for me. i rather like my L10C nichia 4-mode version which arrived last night.p

the additional length of the L10C vs the L10 twisty is not a problem for me because i need both hands to operate the L10 twisty. the added weight of the L10C is negligible.

the cool white beam of the T10S is similar to the cool white beam of the L10 xp-g2. But the T10S is noticeably brighter than the L10 that I compared it with. i think there are variances in brightness levels of the L10 xp-g2 but i do not think that any of my L10 xp-g2's are nearly as bright at the T10S.

you can not to wrong with any of these lights, imo.

approximate lengths;

L10C & T10S are 3-3/4 inches. the L10 is 3-1/4 inch.

I have the T10S CW, T10T NW, L10 XP-G2 (CW) and L10 Nichia 219. I don't have a L10c (yet). The T10T NW runs on an Energizer lithium primary and is light and bright. I'm not a big fan of reverse clickies, but the half click to change modes is
OK. The brass on the L10s means smooth twist operation. The T10S with Eneloop was heavy and, although robust, was given to the bride. I've kept and use the others. I like and use them all. Be aware the L10 whites are paint and chip - not a big issue for me and doesn't stop me from using them. But when I get around to buying the L10c, it will be anodized. Hard to say which is better - get them all.
