Sorry Fenix I do not see any real improvements. It has R/B colors now which really doesn't do much for me or most anyone else either, throw is now 7450 candela LESS than the previous model, and the extra 100 lumens in turbo mode really won't be noticeable. Honestly more could have been accomplished had they not added the colors and put in an xpl hi or changed the reflector to orange peel and used an xhp series led. If they had used an xpl hi 100k cd would have been easy to reach and would have put Fenix back on top of the multi AA market. The runtimes are better than the previous model but that is the only improvement I see.

Completely agree. Was keeping an eye on this, in the market for solid AA light. Might just get the previous version now. Not comfortable with Nitecore (for EA81), so.......sigh.

Better get the previous version soon, they have been discontinued for awhile now. Still easy to find but probably not for much longer
 
Oh! Good point. Maybe a trip to GG this weekend. Sure wish there were more 6 or 8 AA lights. :(

First impression is meh!

I have no problem with stuffing 8 Eneloops into a light... but make it interesting.
 
Dear Fenix Store,

I have a 900-lumen TK41 and I LOVE it! I use it nearly every single day. If I could make changes they would be, in order of importance:
Neutral emitter instead of cool-white
Add a 1-lumen Low-Low beneath the 15-lumen Low
Two lanyard holes to preserve tail-standing stability

This new TK41C doesn't do it for me, personally. It might interest me if I didn't already have a TK41, though I'm truly perplexed by the decision to add colored lights.

I'm a huge fan of the 8xAA format; I'd like Fenix to know that there is a market for them!

I have been preaching for neutral tint and low level modes for awhile now. So far they haven't applied that to the flashlights. There new headlamps are neutral tint and the HL35 is perfect, I love mine, I just wish they would put the same modes and tint in a light like the E20
 
I'm similarly underwhelmed. I've never had a use for a red LED, let alone blue.

And "2016 technology?" Not quite.

In fact the entire 2016 catalog left me yawning. I'm a devoted Fenix fan and buyer - I have at least nine of their lights - but I'll be looking elsewhere to spend this year's light budget.

The 2016 version of the TK09 in particular seems to be a huge step backwards. A 50-lumen "low" mode is nuts, and I don't like losing the grip ring.
 
Fenix... love you so much, but I would rather have a power emitter in here like an XHP50. Besides having a red and blue mode which I'd never really use it's overall not that different from the previous models. For the white beam the 100 lumens extra isn't going to do that much. Personally I don't need a super throwy light either so a bigger emitter in here would be pretty nice seeing as the TK41 has a decent sized reflector to begin with.

This is a nice light no doubt though. It definitely would be the "best" version of it so far if released like this.
 
I do like this model's mode spacing a shade more than mine; I like at least 4-fold increases between modes (for visual doubling of brightness) and the C comes closer with 15 - 100 - 350 - 1000.

I'll add that I hadn't paid a lot of attention to the runtimes; they are impressive!

If it had a .5- or 1-lumen Low Low it might have been a contender despite being cool white.

(I don't know if 'most people' would like so many modes, but if I got to design it with a max of 1,000 lumens I would be super delighted to have: 1 - 4 - 16 - 62 - 250 - 1000)
 
Several of you have made comments on both this thread and the TK61 thread. We always make sure Fenix sees your recommendations. Regarding the LED and features of the TK41 2016 model, here is what they reported back:

Yes, the LED for TK41C is still the Cree XM-L2 (U2) LED but not the XP-L HI. The main differences between the TK41C and old TK41 are its more compact size and the colored LEDs.​

As for the reason why the XP-L wasn't used in the TK41C, it is because the TK41C is a bigger flashlight than PD32, it won't be more efficient to use the XP-L HI on the TK41C (to reach the higher output). The XP-L HI LED is more suitable for the flashlights in middle size.

I would prefer XP-L HI or dedomed XM-L2 for more throw. This model has less candella than tk41.
 
Update on mode spacing thought: If 350 is maximum sustainable high, then perhaps ideal (for me) modes would be 1 - 5 - 22 - 87 - 350 - 1,000.

Thank you for asking them but I, and I would say most others, would agree the XPL HI is great for throwers of all size. The Olight M3XS-UT uses it and it's 250k candela and the same size as the previous TK41, the Nitecore TM16GT uses the XPL HI and is 250k candela. Most modded lights that are 300k, 400k, or 500k plus candela use a XPL HI. I just don't understand their reasoning. Most of use would prefer more throw from a light this size

am I understanding correctly in that your saying...
1- XM-L leds are for bigger flashlights, while XP-L's are for medium sized flashlights.
2- this flashlight is too big to use an led that would considerably increase its throw?
