The reason they give makes no sense . let's look at some other lights with the same size heads. Eagletac M30lc2 2.5 head with a xm-l2 u2 66,000 and 514 meters , with the xp-l hi 91,000 and 604 meters . This is the best light to use because it has the same head different LEDs . Then we have olight m2x-ut 2.48 head and only 20 more lumens has 164,000 and 810 meters throw. We could also add Thrunite tn32 to the list with both LEDs in the same head. I think Fenix should do some more math on this xp-l hi more money, happy customers , and they don't look like sure fire years behind all the others with led Technology . At least surefire is top dog on build and USA made , so they have no reason to keep up-to-date because people still buy them because they are US-made and you can get customer service quick . Fenix will lose customers quick when they don't keep up-to-date ,because that's the only thing they have going for them . customers are Quick to leave when they don't keep up-to-date because you have 4+ other like flashlight company's that keep up and are around the same price. The math on the 2.5 inch light vs what Fenix said is way off. Please show this info to Fenix all the posts. And one last thing everyone else has lower or moon light mods.

REALLY FENIX !!!! WOW huge let down.......was waiting for this light for a while. Wanted a xp-l hi or XHP50 emitter. Low mode is too hi. Worse throw than the first one. All the other companies are putting XP-L HI led's in bigger lights. What a load of BS. Needless to say I will be looking elsewhere for a multi aa light. I wil be buying the pd32 2016 though.

Thanks for all the candid input on this light and recent models. Although we (Fenix-Store) don't always have the answers, or can't speak to the reasoning on specific product releases/features, we certainly communicate it with Fenix in the hopes that future releases meet customer expectations!

Thanks for your guy's efforts at conveying our thoughts. I apologize for myself and others if we sometimes seem harsh or like we are hating on Fenix. I can only speak for myself on this, but I just hate to see Fenix fall behind other manufacturers when they have such a good reputation for quality and a great product, they just need a few tweaks. As far as I know you all are our only way to communicate ideas between us and Fenix engineers so it undoubtedly puts you all taking the blow of our comments. Thanks for being such a great group of people to work with! I myself have personally slacked off on light purchases in general, and Fenix as they don't quite offer what I'm looking for, but I still highly recommend Fenix to other people looking for a great quality, simple to use light, at a good price point.

Fenix-Store, indeed - I'm trying to help y'all with my (intended to be) constructive criticism. Fenix is a great brand and I think it could easily be tops in the market - with some tweaking. I, too, apologize if I've hurt anyone's feelings.

I had a Fenix LD41. The battery carrier developed a fault. Fenix sent a new battery carrier for free.
I owe it to Fenix to continue to be great, and not disappoint and disappear like Maglite did (until their recent 625lumens).
By giving sound advice on the essential need for:
inbuilt battery carriers on all flashlights (like the EA81),
great range of high lumens (10-100-300-600-1200-2400).
Not just one, but two or more buttons to help operate flashlights.
This will help Fenix continue to be great and not become a MagLite .

We got another update on the LED in the new TK41C. Fenix is aware of this thread. In speaking further with the Fenix engineers concerning why the TK41C didn't have the XP-L HI LED, apparently it was a timing issue too. The TK41C project had been planned and ongoing BEFORE the XP-L HI LED was even released. The engineers wanted CPF readers to know that.

Thanks, Tac. We try to keep our CPF members up-to-date with all we can share with you. Just keep asking and commenting. It all is for the improvement of the Fenix line. Even though some comments are rough, they need to be said because the consumer drives the development. You field users know what specs/features are needed.
