Lumintop ToolTi disassembly/o-ring help

I have a ToolTi (AAA) that hasn't gotten much use lately but today I noticed the GITD o-ring at the lens is partly pinched/partly gushing out, and appears to have sustained some damage to the part that's sticking out. Is there a way to disassemble the head so I can remove the lens and reseat the o-ring? I tried to unscrew the end but it's not cooperating. Does anyone know if there's another o-ring under the lens that actually seals against water intrusion, or is the GITD o-ring the only one in that spot? If there's a secondary seal that keeps water out then I'll just leave it as-is but if this GITD is supposed to be doing that job then that's a problem.

Thanks for that. I thought it was supposed to come apart there but I'm not having any luck getting it to unscrew. Might need to stick it in the vise to see if I can break it loose.

Before you get too physical with it, try the hot water trick. Put the light (without cells) in a baggie and suck out as much air as possible. Then drop the baggie in some very hot water and leave it there for a while. Hopefully the heat will soften whatever Loctite compound that was used on the threads.

The Loctite came loose but on the wrong side of the brass insert. Trying to hold the tiny amount of material on the insert while unscrewing the bezel side, well let's just say it didn't work. :laughing: The threads are pretty well mangled now but everything went back together and function doesn't seem to be affected. I also gave it a good bath (naturally I dropped the head down the garbage disposal as soon as it came off the body). No soap bubbles apparent inside the lens. I'll just use it and if it eventually dies because the o-ring is compromised, then it dies. Not too much of a loss, really. It's easily replaced if I decide it's worth it to get another one.

Thanks for the help, it's good to know how it comes apart and the hot water method got me a lot further along than just wrenching on it.
