MTG2 flashlight question

Just was curious about something...if I remember correctly for a long time MTG2 was out but nobody figured out how to regulate it, i guess for awhile they were all direct drive. Does anyone know who figured it out and when?

There is the Zener mod that seems to be pretty Common.
You change out a couple components to mod an XML driver to run it.

Got the parts on order going to be trying that One myself.

Yeah, I like it cause just it's my kind of party.

I'm good at surgical soldering so it should be a fun project.
