My wishlist for 2025

Candle Power Forums

Help Support Candle Power:

Alright, I just heard back from Hank (damn, that guy works fast).

I asked for this:
D4K Ti single-channel (I don't need tint ramp or channel switching)
2x 519A 2700K
2x 519A 5700K
Lume X1-driver
Polished silver titanium metal button upgrade

He answered:
Yes, we can do that, the metal button upgrade for the D4K TI is free.

...So I think that's the July purchase decided. If not sooner, because I got damn tempted now.

Any reason NOT to go for a 519A 2700K + 5700K mix?
Or what is the best hCRI + R9 combo? Am also looking at 2700K + 4500K.

That's the Convoy order down, finally.

Blue T4 and a L21B Red [insert Red vs Blue joke here] plus a holster for a good friend of mine, and the rest is for me.
I hope the tripod handle will fit on my Sofirn Q8+

convoy_order.jpg

Had to get some more materials for various house projects today, so I postponed the flashlight order a day past the initial intention.

But OF COURSE there had to be another delay, beyond my control:
"【Note: My factory will be relocated from June 12th to June 17th, and orders will not be processed during this period.】"

...If I was a less calm, cool and collected human being, I would follow certain procedures.

Some updated opinions on the Convoy 3X21E: while it has a tripod hole (2 of them, actually, one on each side), it can only be practically used with the included handle. The distance between the mounting hole and the "lip" at the front end and bezel is too small to accomodate at least any tripod that I own (el-cheapo, Joby Gorillapod 2K and Velbon Sherpa 600R).

On the plus side, with the handle attached, the light is very well balanced. And the 519A 4000K 60° bead TIR gives a very good, even spread of light. Listed to be ~12.000 Lumen, CRI 9080. Though the 519A 4000K is definitely noticably warmer than my E21A 3500K + 4500K mix.

The S12 UV is also a very good upgrade to my Sofirn SF16. Much more powerful, and with the 3 LEDs over the SF16's single LED, it also has a better spread. I do not intend to do a recheck of the bathroom with it tonight, because I don't want to give myself nightmares over what I will see...

A very good friend of mine, a fellow flashoholic, and recipient of the T4 and L21B liked the T4 so much compared to his Acebeam PokeLit 2AA and Nitecore MT2A Pro, he just gave me a request for another.

Not so happy about the lackluster output of the Red L21B. We both agreed it performed rather poorly compared to my own Green L21B.

Other than that, I am still on track to order an Emisar D4K Titanium "Steak Light" 519A 2x 2700K + 2x 5000K* in about 2 weeks.
*Or whatever I ultimately land on. 2700K + 5000K, 2700K + 4500K, 3500K + 4500K...

Next Convoy order currently looks to be a red C8+ SST-20-DR (Red, 660 nm), M21H MAO XHP70.3 3000K (I got plans for this one...), a T4 Titanium Colourful (replacing a Fenix E21), and the second T4 (this one in orange) 519A 4000K for my friend.

...At this rate, I will reach 100 flashlights by the end of the year. :|
What would even be worth considering as a 100th flashlight milestone? Something expensive, I would imagine - something...special.

Welp, with 2025 just over...there are still lights out there that I still desire. And lights that I have purchased that was never on the list.
Finally landed on a second Acebeam E75, this one in Polished Titanium, and one that I am currently carrying on me.

Chasing the "morning sun" light as a night stand light proved more difficult that I expected. Having tried several now - Emisar DT8K, E21A 2000K (not enough Lumen) and a Convoy 3X21E, 519A 1800K (too many LED-spots) - I am still not 100 % satisfied. Most recent purchase is a Convoy L21A, LHP73B 1800K, that...how can I put this? That I forgot about this morning, when me and my still-sleep deprived brain actually needed it...

I haven't tried them side-by-side yet, but my gut feeling is on preferring the 519A 1800K over the LHP73B. In the same order as the L21A, LHP73B, I did also get a Convoy S21E, 519A 1800K, with a smooth reflector. Thermal issues in my main concern with that one though, but I first have to try that one too.

I have also slimmed down the collec...I mean, my selection of lights, and let surprisingly many go on to a good friend of mine. I need cash for "undesired expenses", and so I decided to sell something to offset the cost. One of upside of the sales were to further get rid of 18650 lights. Still keeping some, but I otherwise want to go completely over to 21700 lights, getting rid of many but also replacing my current (mostly emergency) AA/AAA and 18650 lights with 21700 versions. Don't need the extra performance, but the extra runtime of a single 21700 compared to 2x AA cells cannot be denied.

And good news! I think I have finally managed to, or at least well on the way to, convert my mother into a flashaholic too. She asked me for a custom light for herself. Only a Convoy, with predefined options, but it is a start!

I intend to get her a Purple body (she chose the colour) S21E, with a 519A 3000K emitter.

Since your post was made at 7:19A m, I wouldve expected a light sporting a 719A, lol.

If you're gonna get an S21E in 3000K, get it with the SFT70. It'll be using a boost driver way more efficient than the linear one that the 519A requires, it'll handle more current than the B35AM, and the CRI will be even higher. All of that at essentially zero extra cost, cents at most.

I don't see a SFT-70 option for the S21E, only the SFT-40 - unless it's under a name I don't recognize?

The S21A does have the SFT-70 though - but that is not in available in the desired body colour, and same with the S21G

And I know my mother is picky about colours (she would rather have something in a nice colour over nice performance), so I think the Purple body S21, with the SFT-40 (or 519A or B35AM) in 3000K, to be my best bet.

I, however, am not so picky about body colour (I want the performance every time), so if the SFT-70 3000K has the highest CRI (especially R9), then I am certainly game for any model with that emitter.

But on that note, another question regarding these models: constant current driver or Anduril 1.0? I couldn't find a concrete answer on which of those is the best one. I gladly want the best runtime and thermals, over max output.

It's not a standard option, but if you send Simon an e-mail, he will add it for you. He's done it for others before in the subreddit. I don't know why it doesn't come as a standard option, really.

Anduril only works on 3v emitters, and it requires a linear driver. Not the best performer of the bunch, no.
Constant current can be anything - linear, buck or boost. It only means that the light isn't controlled by PWM. With this being the S21E, the SFT-40 and 519A options are most likely linear drivers.
Again, send Simon a message. He'll answer it for you with total certainty.

(I can definitely vouch for the B35AM 3000K, it's genuinely a nice LED and tint. It's just that the SFT-70 3000K does everything that the B35AM does, and better - more luminosity, more color rendering in broader bands, and doesn't risk burning itself to a crisp if driven on Turbo for a long time.)

Thank you very much, I will be sure to ask Simon prior to making an order. :)
Say, you wouldn't happen to know DUV* on the SFT-40 and SFT-70? I hope for a Yellowy tint - can't stand a Greenish tint, and I doubt I will like the Rosy one.
*Look at me, using all fancy words I barely know the meaning of...

The B35AM is an emitter I considered to be recommended on Reddit, though compared to the E21A. Having experiences with the E21A (bestest tint I ever saw, albeit with low Lumen number), they said "the B35AM is basically 4x E21A on one die". Still haven't tried the B35AM - or SFT-40, or SFT70 for that matter - so I am curious to try them.

Looking at a Convoy M21H with the SFT-40, 3000K for myself - but if the SFT-70, 3000K really is far superiour in every way, I am gladly trying that instead.

This one is for my mother, and as moms only deserve the very best, the price is a non-issue whenever I buy something for her. ❤️
She asked for some flowers for Christmas last year (or was it the year before?) - nothing major (her words), perhaps a 20 USD (equivalent) bouquet.
...I gave her a total of 235 USD in giftcards from a local flower shop, from December 1 till the 24th. We got a special calendar we use decoration, that she made for me when I was a kid, with 24 pockets that I put the cards in. She loved it, and told me she brought home new flowers every week!

CCT is decided (I got to make that decision), as is the body colour - but she isn't very tech savvy, so something that won't burn up (she won't have a clue what "Turbo" is - or what is safe thermal limits), so something that won't catch fire (i.e. idiot proof) will be preferred.

Addendum:
And as I am writing this, the bill for my unexpected car expenses showed up in my inbox - and it was less than half of what I feared!
That means, with the sales
I have done recently, this next Convoy order can be done right quick!

Okay, that is the next Convoy order as good as ready.

S21E Purple body, SFT-40 or 70 (waiting on response from Simon) 3000K 45° bead TIR
2x S21E Blue body, 519A 2700K 45° bead TIR
3X21A, LHP73B 1800K Smooth reflector
S12 SST-10-IR 850 nm
Molicel P50B cells for everything
Diffusers for all the S21E lights
Holster for the 3X21A

Plus jagged bezel for a T4 and a holster for a M26C at request from a friend.

Purple S21E is at request from my mother, Blue S21E's will replace the current Fenix E21 (2x AA) and Coast G45 (3x AAA) as emergency lights in the bathrooms.
S12 IR will replace a C8+ with the same LED for light therapy testing.
3X21A will replace a very recently purchased L21A with the same LED as my bedroom "morning sun" light.

Just got a response from Simon. Sure thing, I only need to add a note, and he'll put a SFT-70 3000K in a S21E for me.

Thread states "My wishlist for 2025", but I see no reason to make a new thread just because a year has gone by.

Current wishlist is (Convoys already in the cart, and expected ordered Soon™):
- Convoy L21B Tan, 519A 1800K + Molicel P50B.
- 3x quad TIR, 10° flat (for the 3X21E).
- Convoy 3X21E, 519A 1800K (already have one, but I want another).
- 2x 3X21A / -B diffuser (hope this also fits the E-model).
- Convoy S21E Orange, 519A 2700K 45° TIR.
- Convoy S21E Purple, 519A 2700K 45° TIR.
- Convoy S21E Green, 519A 1800K 45° TIR.
All S21E's with Molicel P50B's, and all is for my mother, at her request. ❤️

Convoy T8 Blue Camo, SFT-40 3000K + Vapcell K10 (this one is for a good friend of mine, at his request).

Emisar:
- DT8K Dark Grey, SST-20 Deep Red + metal button, magnet and LumeX1 (for light therapy - no Convoy had the dimming I need)
- D4K White, W2 Deep Blue + SST-20 Deep Red + metal button and magnet (that resulting purple light looks hilarious!)
- Noctigon M44 White, 519A 2700K + 4500K (if still possible) + metal button upgrade (I have the 519A 2700K + 4500K mix in a D4K Ti, and it's beautiful!).
- Bronze PVD pocket clip + retaining ring + button upgrade for my fellow flashoholic friend.
Got more - D4K, DA1K, DM1.12 and others - in open tabs, but the ones listed above are the ones I expect to actually get at some point.

Question on the M44 - the 3x 18650, are all of them really in series for 11,1 Volt?
~3000 mAh, 11,1 Volt just seems crazy to me. I know it states that on the page, but that just makes it even more insane.

If I do get the M44, I am looking at 3x Molicel P30B from Convoy.
