I like it the Dominator has been updated. It is a great design and I like the simple UI.
That is my (old) Dominator with one of my Aviators and my Titan-A:

Now only an aftermarket battery carrier is needed for i.e. 21700 or 26650 or something like that. For me the rechargable pack is the only disadvantage of this light.

Willing to bet it'll be ridiculously expensive, and far from better than my JetBeam M64.

Realistically, how many of these will they sell at $1600.00? I can't imagine very many.
Sadly SureFire doesn't get it. It's not 20 years ago when their Dominator model back then was one of the absolute greatest rechargeable lights that you could buy if you wanted quality, durability, and sheer output. Heck, it was pretty much the only option if you wanted all of that. Times have changed, and the competition is beyond impressive.

The M64 has springs on both the tailcap and the head. So most likely yes. But the 21700s Jetbeam included with the M64 are USB rechargeable (i.e. have a USB port) and more like 21760.
Is Jetbeam competing for the law enforcement and especially military market? That's what Surefire has been focusing on since like 2003. Even their LE focused lights seemed secondary to that sweet DOD money. Which of course has dried up after OIF/OND and OEF ended. So they might have to start looking at individual cops and the commercial market again.
Then they're going to have very stiff competition from the likes of both Fenix and Nitecore with their excellent rechargeable models that easily function as duty lights. Without the SureFire prices.
They will, but if they can come out with some reasonably priced lights again they might do ok. It's like they don't realize they aren't just competing with Maglite and Streamlight anymore.
