Night dog walking

Looking for a good general purpose light to be used walking the dog. Night time walks thru woods and streets. I need something that will not eat up a ton of batteries or maybe rechargeable. Usually we are out for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Armytek has some nice lights I have a wizard pro (headlamp) and a predator I use outside both run on 18650s with good run times. And Armytek has a 10 year warranty so far I have been very happy with them.

No mention of size or budget. Based on the purpose, I assume a light with more flood than throw would be useful.

I use a McGizmo Haiku XM-L for my dog walks. Floody beam. Enough light on L and available punch on H. Efficient. Worth the money, but expensive.

I also like Malkoff lights. I have a MD2 with M361 N dropin and an 18650. I like the 3 modes, the beam/tint and long runtime. Bigger and less money. The Malkoff MDC may also be an option - the li-ion rechargeable version is very nice.

I've been using an Eagletac D25LC2 (XM-L) for abour a year and a half now for dog walks, and I love it!
It's small enough to fit in your pocket, but powerful enough to light up streets, trails and surroundings.
I would highly recommend this light for the purpose.

Welcome to CPF. I like the Streamlight Propolymer 4aa. It has a good hot spot for distance and enough spill for seeing the trail. I've given these as gifts for the purpose of dog walks and people like them. I got them at brightguy . com

Update; I just got back from walking my dog...I forgot about another great light. Very inexpensive Rayovac indestructible 2 aa sold at Home Depot. two modes; 100 lumens and 18 lumens...very good run time.

Have you considered a head lamp? Leaves the hands free to hold a lead, I have one but my balance is bad on uneven ground. Many types of light are suitable but I prefer a floody type for general use. I also like to carry a small more throwy type of light as well, just for the hell of it or to spot other animals in fields if the dog and I are walking through it.

i have enjoyed my fenix e35 for night time dow walking. simple user face, nice size, and a nice beam profile. oh and its very affordable

This is a great forum! Thanks for all the input. I've decided to try a Malkoff MD2. Looks like a good fit for my purpose. Thanks again for all the help, without it I probably would never have know about these lights.
