These treads got about 800 miles on them so far, but the vehicle itself has north of 175,000 miles, possibly closer to over 200k miles on it. Never really had an oil change done, nor a jump start, but its had plenty of engine flushes. Cold starting requires a decent warm up time, and the TCM is shot, (probably some manufacturing defect with a capacitor). The finish is somewhat self repairing. It SHOULD have another 40 or so years of life left, bar any serious collisions or wrecks.

No interface to speak of, but the design is a classic, kudos to the designer.

He could do more. Jaime Foxx's character on The Jaime Foxx Show had one as his personal vehicle. Converted the inside into a sort of Love Shack. Though he never drove it on the show, and I think it was referenced in only one episode. (My mind works in weird ways. I can recall certain memories in vast detail, while others nothing at all.)

If the van was full-length, you could convert it into a Van Life Tiny House. There's a video floating around YouTube that shows a great No-Build conversion. Unfortunately the content creator has prevented it from being shared on other websites. Going that route though, I'm surprised more folks don't get a cheap Maaco paint job for their vans. White sticks out like crazy, especially if parked overnight on city streets. That subdued Maaco blue paint-job fits in very well.

2nd Owner, 1986 535i BMW, now over 500,000 miles. One small rust spot, otherwise tight all around. New starter and windshield recently, replaced the driver's seat with good used one a few years back. Been back and forth across the country with it (Connecticut to San Francisco) and really like the get up and go at sea level! Had a hard time getting away from a red light without squealing.

One of the first things I did was triple the tail lights (from 2 to 6 bulbs), added two more brake lights (from 3 to 5 bulbs), and got the best headlights I could find up front... Cibié CSR, for 'Complex Surface Reflector.' these are NLA, of course, as most superb lights are... One is all high beam, one is all low beam. Both run single filament H1 bulbs. I have to use lows when approaching a large reflective road sign; the return is BLINDING.

Now working on 600,000.

About a year ago, I painted the roof on my 2008 Grand Marquis with Flex Seal. Landau roofs look terrible when they start to peal. Replacement of the roof would have been as much as the car is worth. My brother laughed and said, "There's no denying that you're your father's son!" when I told him that I did it with a paint brush.

Actually that was the second time I painted it. the first time was a few years earlier.

I gifted it to my grandson a year ago. He sent me this picture last month.

Regarding insurance.
@Monocrom liability insurance in required by law in most states, including NY and NJ. Liability will cover you for the damages you cause to others. Unfortunately some policies are inadequate.

Collision, and comprehension coverage is coverage to your vehicle. As the value of your vehicle, drops so does the cost of such coverage. However there may be a point that it costs more than it is worth.

Unfortunately, I was in a minor accident that was my fault, because I didn't see a stop sign that was hidden behind a bush, around a bend in the road. I decided NOT to have a $700 repair to the bumper cover of my car with a $500 deductible, for fear that a charged accident would increase my policy cost by more than that.

In the past I did have four comprehension claims that didn't increase my policy's cost, two were for windshield replacements, and one because I hit a deer, and one because a deer ran into the side of my minivan. During the repairs, I rented a car, and it was a covered expense.
My comprehension claims only had a $100 deductible.

Personal Injury Protection PIP coverage is the portion of the policy that will pay for YOUR medical expenses. IMO it is really inexpensive, I think only about $100 a year, maybe more, but it is the policy that will pay for the $100,000 surgery if needed. One can get different limits, for different prices, but personally I do not skimp on that coverage.

@raggie33 in the past, in New Jersey, PIP coverage was not offered with motorcycles, I don't know about Georgia. I would check my policy, and make sure that I have PIP coverage if it is offered.

My 2016 Expedition Limited. 188088 miles. I bought it used in 2019. Put about 160000 ethanol free miles on it. Installed a rear differential locker. She can make it through some pretty snotty terrain. Lots of camping, boating, dirt biking. Many a cozy night.

Ah an Expedition! The upgrade to a full size Bronco. I always wanted one but never got one.
Good for you. A great truck!

Yep. My first vehicles were trucks, but big SUVs are far more useful for my activities. Wish I would have grabbed a 4WD EL or "Max" before prices went insane, but with the locker it's a very capable 2WD and just big enough. Only repairs are a rear AC actuator and number 3 coil. I did the work, so less than $300 bucks in repairs over almost 6 years.

For the last 25 years I ran Fords with a 4.6 liter engine, a 1999 Crown Vic I bought new in 1998, and a 2008 I bought used from my dad around 2017. Neither needed any major repairs, only wear items, tires, brakes, tie rod ends. The Crown Vic did need a fuel pump at about 200,000 miles, and an intake manifold when it was about 12 - 14 years old. I don't recall how many miles it had when it got totaled in a rear impact accident, that's when I got my dad's Grand Marquis, that now has over 300,000 miles on her.

Due to the fact that these cars were so darn comfortable, and reliable, but so old, with so many miles, they weren't worth much on the market; I just held on to them instead of getting an Expedition. The trunk in each was so large that I rarely needed any additional storage space. I did get a hitch mounted cargo carrier for those rare times that it was needed.
