Red/green flashlight or filter?

Looking for a flashlight to spot predators on our acreage. They have been getting way too many chicken lately. I would like a red or green light, but haven't found many really bright options for lighting up the tree line. Do filters work well? I would prefer a single light that I could switch between red/green/white but open to recommendations.

Check out the nitecore chameleon CR6.

If that not bright enough, then look into a Red P60 bulb and a host.

Other than that, we used to use those big spotlights with red filters. I saw one in bass pro last week that included a set of filters.

Armytek has both red and green lights in the predator series. A dedicated light will throw better than a filtered light. The Armytek should throw alot better than the Nitecore due to the larger reflector.
 
Red flashlight leds seem to all be around 630 nm range which is someone orangy red, coyotes can react to that somewhat. I've taken to using a defocused 200mw red laser at 650nm and they have 0 reaction of any kind to having light fall on them. It throws a spot around 6 feet wide to easily 150 yards and farther. That spot is bright enough to remove them as a threat via scoped rifle.
 
The Streamlight pack mate has a white/green, hi/lo (of each) option for deer hunters.

Streamlight makes for amazing throwers without all that battery slurping power.

not with leds. red filters work bad, since there is not much red spectrum in white led to begin with, so red is pretty dim, green otoh a lot brighter and looks like greeninsh white, not really green, and also having a single led with muliple dies (mce color, xml color) will give you bad beam profile, since dies are not centered, i build a xml color light resently, but beams are uneven with holes, i mean if you do not shine it on white wall, but use it in the field, you will still illuminate objects. for flood it is not much of an issue, but tight spots can be affected by missaligned optic a lot more.

i have build dosens of color light, triples, or quads with different color leds, where each has its own optic will give you cleaner, more focused beam.
 
I'd suggest getting a Solarforce P60 host, and then ordering red and green P60 drop ins from Nailbender.

Where do you get it? Did you have to defocus it yourself?
 
LED Lenser P7QC - has red, green, blue, and white emitters and you can change between the colours just by a twist of the head. Easy!
 
You might also look at the Klarus FH10

I have green and red filters for the lights. I hunt hogs at night after deer season. The red does not spook wildlife as much as the green. But you can see much further with the green. You can adjust your brightness to suit how far you want to see, also. Once I locate a hog(s), I hold the light above the animal and slowly bring it down on them. They do not spook like when you abruptly shine the light right at them. Then I squeeze the trigger.

Brinyte B158 - take your pick of red, green, or white.

You can change the pills, but they aren't sold separately. Unless you can build your own because the empty pills are.

I have a couple of these for hunting and on focus they throw pretty good.

Apart from that, fastteh.com, Brinyte B38, also comes in colours.
